The monk is a sort of Angel of Death; though so is the horrified Lucy Harker, played by Isabelle Adjani. if the people only knew it, they are being eliminated so that Dracula can have uninterrupted quality time alone with her. The remarkable dinner party group have gone down with the Plague and decided to dine together as friends for one last afternoon, since they are all going to die. The other party animals are indulging in an insane Danse Macabre in the face of the epidemic which is busily killing their town. The whole thing is desperately sick and creepy, but I find the strange and graceful progress of the lovely and dreadfully pale Isabelle Adjani through the chaos sets the seal on this awful scene. She is the outsider who is not part of the madness but is being forced to watch it happen; in a way, she is the one suffering the most.

So, one of the great criticisms of [COLOR=#5C0E00 !important]Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory [/COLOR]concerns one of the scenes in the film where Mr. Wonka is in a boat taking his guests for a joy ride that was thought to be way too creepy.

Personally, I liked this scene. Especially since when I go to a theme park and have to wait like 45 minutes for a ride that lasts 30 seconds!
