Yea, it couldn't possibly be both, hm?

Shouldn't the UK and EU been having substantive negotiations for a while now?

Very possibly but the EU insisted on sorting out the divorce bill and the Irish border first. This could all been worked out holistically with a new trade agreement with no need for a backstop but..

Palo, I'm not sure a country that is fighting to regain part of it's territory that was stolen by a foreign country really counts as a 'belligerent'.

Well, in the Continuation War they actually were the attackers on Russian territory (they had ceded it, so it was legally Russian). I deliberately don't call them "aggressors"; but they fought on the side of the Germans, were supplied by them, and were fighting the same enemy. So I have no difficulty calling them "co-belligerents", nor do Finns themselves. But I would never call them "German allies" and object to the term

Still, I'd say this will put a few smiles on a few faces.

Has any Brit ever considered the benefits of shedding Ulster?

Sure, but Ulster does not want to shed the UK.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/prosecutor...ry?id=59215607

According to the Prosecutors with the County District Attorney office, the whole thing was a big scam to separate well do gooders from their $, even the part about the homeless guy giving his last $20 to the woman when she ran out of gas.

First time I read the story about this before they even started a GoFund Me page, I had my suspicion.

If you are homeless and a drug addict, are you going to 1. hold on to your last $20 and not use it for another high?

and

2. give your last $20 to a stranger who ran out of gas in her car - a stranger who is in a better financial and socio-economical position than you are?

Absolutely Not!
