Pet Sematary (1989)
Trailer The doctor Louis Creed (Dale Midkiff) moves with his family from Chicago to Ludlow, Maine, where he's offered a job at the University of Maine. The family's new home lies next to a remote but dangerous road because it's regularly frequented by trucks. The Creeds befriend Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynne), their neighbor from across the street. When the Creeds' little daughter Ellie (Blaze Berdahl) asks where the path behind their house leads to, they're told by Crandall that it takes them to an old pet cemetery. When the family's cat Church(ill) gets killed by a car, Crandall reveals a secret about an abandoned Indian cemetery, something he'd regret soon... Like probably most King screen adaptation, Pet Sematary suffers from a heavy B movie vibe. The perfomances were not quite convincing but there's definitely something creepy about this film. It's probably the little boy Gage (portrayed by Meko Hughes). You can kind of feel the grief of the parents when he gets killed by a truck. The father is incapable of dealing with his loss, so he decides to "do something" about it. That was both creepy and sad. |

Also, I'm trying to find the name of a superhero film I saw on TV a few years ago. It involves a superman like character who arrives in our universe, where because superheroes can't exist, he has no powers. However he still manages to save the day with clever tricks that appear to replicate his powers and at the end there's a funny scene where having returned to his 1950's universe he stuns his version of Lois by losing his boy scout approach to their relationship. Something he learnt in our world.
If anyone could help, I'd be ever so grateful...really I would. |

Been meaning to check this out for quite a long while ,
A typical morally suspect journalist lost for a story and skating close to being out of a job decides to invent an interview with a pimp. The faked interview reboots his career and then some. Only it brings into his life an actual right bastard of a pimp with an eye on the main prize. A prize he`ll take no matter what. Freeman (Doctor Evil needs a right suing ) is excellent in portraying the seemingly affable front , while underneath he`d stab his own granny to death anally for a dollar. Particularly like the ironic title since the last thing Reeves could be called is street smart. Although in his highly educated yet common sense lacking outlook that character would deny such. Both leads are terrific. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Really is a shame it flopped so badly. Especially considering Reeve had been wanting to make it for years and only agreed to sign up to Superman 4 provided Cannon funded it. Ye gads also , if you've not seen it and weren't already a leg or foot fan. Believe me by the twenty minute mark you will. As there`s a several second scene where we`re treated to Mimi`s delectable both Hot damn who could blame Tom Even I`d be prepared to join Scientology if those legs were wrapped around me

Black Sabbath (1963)
Trailer Mario Bava's Black Sabbath tells three horror tales about a woman terrorized by phone calls from an escaped prisoner she once betrayed; a East European count who meets a family that tries to destroy a type of vampire called the Wurdulak; and a nurse who steals the ring of a deceased countess and is haunted by her ghost in the aftermath. These are children's stories compared to what we consider horror today and I'm not referring to the splatter kind of horror. Although not a big fan of the horror genre, I can appreciate a good atmospheric horror film but Black Sabbath fails to deliver quality stories with intelligent conclusions, though it pretends to rely on good plot twists. I think it's a well-known fact that British heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath took their name from the film's English title. |

Just watched over the last two days my 7 disc collection of the original 6 Star Trek movies. The 7th disc is a special feature disc. I won't go into the plot for each of the movies, because you can read that for yourself by clicking on the thumbnail and reading the left side of the photo. I will just give my rating for each movie. (1) Star Trek: The Movie made in 1979. 2 and 1/2 hours long, maybe too long. Slow, plodding but I liked it. Great score by Jerry Goldsmith famous composer of t.v. themes. All new Enterprise, new uniforms and new look for the Klingons which would be seen for all films and new Star Trek t.v. series through Enterprise starring Scott Bakula. (2) Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Khan. Great action film set 15 years after the genetically superior Khan played brilliantly by actor Ricardo Montalban and his people were marooned by Captain Kirk from the original season 1 episode "Space Seed". (3) Star Trek 3 The Search For Spock. Not so good film, but interesting story. Poor acting by Christopher Lloyd as Klingon commander. (4) Star Trek: The Voyage Home. Critics say best Star Trek film made. Made more as a comedy than drama. Good effects, production, sets, and on location filming. (5) Star Trek: The Final Frontier. Worst of the six pictures. Silly plot, poor effects, poor acting. and finally (6) Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. Good film. Good effects, acting, well developed plot and sets. |
