Kind of an ugly win for Liverpool today. Looked totally out of it for 44 minutes of the 1st half. But given their recent from against the lower part of the table, I guess you will take it any way you can get it.

Credit to Burnley for really hanging in there.

Not really bothered how Liverpool played today just as long as they beat Burnley-we owed them that much, but with so many key players out injured or not fit enough if we play like that against Man City we will be crucified. We have a week to get ready and get any players back and I hope we play a lot better than today. A win is a win and as long as it keeps us knocking on the door of Champions League then so be it but a top four placing is essential for that.

Liverpool were poor, they looked poor but they go a result. That is all that matters I suspect to the club. Right now its all about points on the board as its too close up there in the top 4. Now they have played 2 games more than the teams just below them so today's points were huge. They always say its better to have the points in the bag then need to catch up. I guess we will see over the next few weeks if it is true.

I see also the wally with the brolly has managed to be sacked twice by the same club. Steve McClaren has been sacked as Derby County manager for a second time, five months after he was reappointed.

Did a good job at Boro - won our only major trophy, the Carling Cup, in 2004, 2 years in the UEFA Cup including the 2006 Final. Even so, not that many fans were too sorry to see him go, especially as he'd just signed a new 4 year contract which the FA had to pay off! He's never managed to get established back in English football, and recently he's started to look more and more haggard and unwell. Perhaps he's best out of the game for a while. I do think he did a cracking job at Newcastle though...

Actually, the Wally's record this time is better than most managers they've had recently - 9 in the last 10 years not including caretakers - so I suspect the real problem is with the club, or at least with the club's expectations.
