The Rolling Stones.
Some absolutely beautiful countryside. Some absolutely cracking 90s porn that I'll never forget. Some of the best friends I've ever had and likely ever will. Amazing parents. Chip shop chips and curry sauce. Roast dinners. Drum and bass. The National Health Service and everything it's done for me. The OP already mentioned Monty Python, and I couldn't agree more |

Who was it who wrote "Oh to be in England, now that Summer's here" obviously the weather has changed a lot over those years. England to me is yes cricket, the Lark which is my all-time favourite tune in classical music(sheer perfection) the fields of wheat and corn and rapeseed carpeting the countryside, Wordsworth, Tennyson, Constable & Turner, village greens and cream teas. As for English rose actresses well what about Emily Blunt, Kiera Knightley, Emma Watson and dapper gents like Benedict Cumberbatch, James Norton and Tom Hiddleston. Fish and chips, seaside rock, amusement arcades and zoos. The BBC television and radio, The Proms incl Last Night, Glastonbury, Cornwall, King Arthur & Merlin, Stonehenge, Avebury Ring, The White Horse. Football, Rugby, Darts and Athletcs meetings at Crystal Palace, Her Majesty the Queen, Trooping the Colour, Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, open-top buses, The House of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Lord Nelson, Byron, Keats, Shelley, museums for free, cup of tea to solve all ills., Jerusalem , our green and pleasant land..that's what England means to me...but hey Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their traditions and cultures too. Rule Britannia!😀🇬🇧

The British Isles - a tiny place geographically, but it invented the modern world.
Agrarian revolution, industrialisation, railways which shrank the world, TV, antibiotics, the jet engine, computing and the internet. Others may have exploited those things better, but they started here. |
