Plenty of good quality and sometimes exceptional regional British cheeses in the discounter supermarkets these days. Notable is Aldi’s mature Leicester Red Fox, which is very dark red and almost textured like a vintage cheddar with a salty crunch. Lidl and Asda do similar but IMO the Aldi is best.

Manchego. For me it's the potato chips of cheeses. I can't stop at the first bite... I continue eating away until I realize eaten far past the designated serving size with an exponential calorie/cholesterol count (not to mention sodium, saturated fat, and everything that makes food taste good) to go with it. But hey -- it's rich in calcium and protein, so it's a win-win!

Cheese Shop Extra - Terry Jones RIP
I decided to honor Terry's passing with a sampling of cheese from his homeland. Kinda cheesy, huh?
Collier's Welsh cheddar is a fine example of the type. My only issue is a rather potent, lingering aftertaste. Can't fully decide if I cared for it but it was quite tasty on crackers. By itself, the aftertaste subtracts from it a bit. By and large though, quite good. 7/10 |

A nice medium Emmental cheese. Mmmmm. Great alone, on a sandwich, or in a fondue. Smells like feet
though lol A melted blue cheese on crisps is delicious too. |
