If you could change history

If you could change any event in history, what would it be and why ?

Me, I'd love too erase the day Mr Bell invented the telephone, wish it was never invented.
Imagine, no call from your boss demanding you go work on your day off,
No telemarketing calls, wouldn't have had too give ugly girls fake numbers.

I'd also erase the birth dates quite a few celebrities mentioned in the Which celebrities you hate the most thread, The Oasis brothers come too mind.

Actually Antonio Meucci was the true inventor,although keep that information to yourself as you know how those Scotch types overact

I'm afraid I'd be rather parochial and change several things in my hometown of Buffalo, NY. Not have the 33 or 190 built, both are highways that have kept the city either separated or the waterfront inaccessible. I'd put the second campus of the University of Buffalo downtown as it should have been rather than the suburbs. And I never would have the deal to build a domed stadium in another suburb done. Eventually, the deal was reneged on and it cost a ton of money when the developers sued.

Move the invention and legalization of oral contraceptives back in time 50 years. At least. Think how much better it would be for all of us, if the world's population was half of what it now is.
Not to mention crime (fewer unwanted people with lousy childhoods), perhaps even fewer wars. Not as much cheap gun fodder out there.

I think I'd change the outcome of the American War of Independance leaving them still under British control. That way 90% of the worlds current and past problems, annoyances and irritations would automatically cease to exist.
