Yes that sounds about right-my comments were based on when I remember them appearing in NZ-sometime in the 70's-and they were basically a rotary mower crossed with a hovercraft-so definitely a rigid steel blade. I must check out the current ones next time I'm in Bunnings*....I imagine they'll either have folding blades or perhaps use a nylon line like a strimmer....

* to those of you not resident in NZ or Oz, Bunnings is a hardware chain akin to Home Depot or B&Q-with an exceptionally comprehensive product range-the go to place for anything from a bag of cement, to a tap washer or patio lights...

Bunnings have recently moved into the UK. I'm not sure if they appreciate that there's probably a smaller market for barbeque stuff in this part of the world due to our less reliable weather :-)

Well I didn't know that...they're an Australian company originally-they moved across here to NZ maybe 10-15 years ago?-and are now well established-to the chagrin of Mitre 10-which was the NZ equivalent building supply/DIY chain and long established in the market. That being said-the appearance of Bunnings on the NZ home improvement and DIY/builders supplies scene certainly forced Mitre 10 to sharpen their act up-and these days there is little to pick between the two chains in terms of service, product choice, or price. I haven't heard of any Mitre 10 closing up-so presumably the market is big enough for both...though I do observe that Mitre10 reaches into the smaller towns whereas Bunnings seem to be confined to the big cities...

...and here at least-barbecues are not an especially prominent feature of their product range!

Seems to be a repeat of the Masters disaster here. Masters were a big hardware chain that came here from America with senior management who were Americans and who knew nothing about the Australian market. The whole thing when belly-up and cost a fortune....although on the upside I did get about $700.00 worth of power tools for less than $300.00 at their firesale.
From what I've read, it seems to be same thing with Bunnings in the UK. Australian marketing gurus who know nothing about the UK market.

Over here Bunnings squeezed Mitre 10 almost out of business and these days they mostly service the tradie market. The must be doing okay, because their stores are still about if reduced in number.

What annoys me .... at work meetings when they use the words "Moving Forward" , and they still haven't resolved old problems that have been there for ages and they when they say "Moving Forward" all they do is create new ones that will go unresolved

What annoys me the most ?

Courts and piss weak sentences

These 2, one a cow and the other a sow

Amanda Warren, 33, and Caris Underwood, 22

Both avoided a prison sentence for bashing a paramedic working while they were drunk

https://www.theage.com.au/national/v...15-p4zff7.html

Attacking any emergency service worker here has a mandatory prison sentence

Guess this world is just fucked

This kind of injustice happens all the time in America. It is as if our courts favor the criminals over their victims!

I've seen where some animal abusers sometimes also get off with just a hand slap.

Christ they hand out stricter penalties for spitting on the sidewalk!

Tenants are another brood who have all the rights and which the laws work in their favor. Even after being served eviction papers for violating items in the Terms of Agreement lease or are behind months on the rent its still next to impossible to get them out and the courts are slow as molasses in acting -- and if the tenant has children forget about it its even worse!

If you are posting that because you have such a case I highly recommend hiring a property manager. Mine is great in such a case. They have all the connections for any thing that comes up including lawyers and law enforcement.

Not sure where you live Cuzz but after an eviction they turn any arrears over to a bill collector.
I know XYZ---- would think that is horrible but it is an unfortunate fact of life.
