If you appreciate a good story, you won't regret it. I'm not one of those graphics nuts but this game looks amazing, especially if you own a PS4 Pro and a good TV.

State Of Decay 2

It's a good game IMO, despite some pretty mixed reviews.
I guess most of the disappointment came from the marketing. Microsoft tried to sell it like a kind of blockbuster, a big Xbox exclusive but finally, State Of Decay 2 is nothing more than a sympathetic survival game designed by a small company called Undead Labs.
For sure, it has its flaws and some bugs can appear from time to time but after 20hrs of gaming, those bugs weren't that major or annoying.
So like I already said, the main goal is to survive in a post-apocalyptic world infested by zombies. You can choose between a bunch of couples to start. You'll have to find some food, gas, meds and many other stuff to build a well-protected compound. Many missions are available too. Saving other survivors, repairing cars and vehicles, releasing some places invaded by cannibal corpses...you name it.
The cool thing is that you can switch between your characters and they all have different habilities. Some are stronger, others faster...
It's somekind of a tough game. Not the hardest around in any ways but surviving this walking dead area ain't a walk in the park.
I like it but I prefered the previous one. State Of Decay was more "accessible" than the sequel. And I must admit that I'd totally understand if some folks playing the game would say that it's a little boring. Most of the actions you'll have to accomplish in SOD2 are repetitive. But it's a really cool game. Not the best of this year and I probably won't spend one hundred hours on it but it doesn't deserve some really bad reviews I read around the web.

I'm also 20h, or so, into the game. I agree that the game is misunderstood and does not deserve it's bad reception.
It delivers exactly what it said it wanted to and it's even cheaper than most games, at release.
The reason I chose to answer, is that I initially thought the same, the game really made me want to boot up the original.
But not anymore, I think this is both better and far deeper than SOD1.
It's just that it's learned by trial and error.
(Like building a watchtower on first settlement? When a workshop would've been much more useful.)
Also, the development, and depth, of characters, skills and house-areas are hard to get a grasp on, since you basically don't know where it will lead.
That's the biggest flaw.

Other than that, it's a great game. Really Immersive!!
If you want to try it, try it for a little bit longer than usual. I'm sure you'll love it.

( a lot of the really bad 'reviews' seems to come from people angry because it's not available on Steam. (yet).
So they attack a game they haven't tried because they don't like the shop it's available in. That's mature :-p

I actually booted it up for fun yesterday!
I've been through it so many times.
But it doesn't beat almighty Quake! (IMO)

Thanks for your post, mate!

I totally agree with you. For sure SOD2 should be perfected with future patches in order to fix some problems.
I guess the lack of story can restrain some players to fully invest themselves into the game. And maybe some people thought it was gonna be something like The Last Of Us or some other zombies games. But it's not. There's no real background in SOD2. The apocalypse has already started when the game begins and there aren't any long cinematics at all.
You have to apprehend SOD2 like if it was Sim City, Age Of Empire or Civilization. So maybe some critics were disappointed by that. I don't really know.
But I really read some shitty reviews that suggest some critics didn't play for a very long time to the game.
Like you said, it's absolutely immersive and sometimes scary as hell. Even if they don't have a real interesting story to stick on, you manage to care for the characters and you totally wanna them to survive as long as possible. And for sure I'll keep on playing SOD2 because it's worth the time spent on it.

But most of the reviewers are dumb! The world of video games is full of assholes and trolls who don't even play the games they're murdering with what they think are harsh words. The Playstation fans will ruin a Mircrosoft game vice and versa. I pay less and less attention to reviews and critics of games.

Got this PS4 exclusive today and after playing it for about 20 minutes, I must say I'm impressed. If you're looking for permanent action, this is not for you. Detroit: Become Human is an interactive film, much like Heavy Rain, with the focus being on story and characters and it looks stunning. This game also offers the best opportunity to see what the PS4 Pro is capable of. I'm looking forward to more later.
Loving this so far! Great game! Gonna be on it all day today

I've finished it already but it has great replay value thanks to all the different outcomes. Glad you're enjoying it.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

I finished it a few weeks ago. A little short for my taste, but with superb graphics, an emotional and quite fucked up rollercoaster of a storyline, and the best gameplay I have seen so far. Bought it for 25 moneys at the Turkish backyard shop of my trust. So I have no reason to complain.

I can only recommend it. But do yourself a favor and choose the difficulty wisely, otherwise it will quickly become a very frustrating experience.
