Just thinking, I wonder how women like Candy, Uschi, and Michelle supported themselves? SC shoots//images didn't exactly pay a lot of money, and it's not like they're able to hide their assets or beauty.

The Eastern European models save enough money and either work for themselves after paying for a house back home or start up a "massage" service.

Uschi speaks several languages (seven or eight, I believe), so not surprisingly, she was able to earn money as an interpreter. She even worked for the U.N. for a while in that capacity (not sure for how long). She also worked off and on in the jewelry industry, again due to her multi-lingual abilities. During the mid-70's when she was most active in the adult industry, she was frequently photographed, so I'm sure she was able to earn halfway decent money for her modeling work. But her skills speaking multiple languages, and knowledge of the jewelry trade, also helped her earn a living.


I'm not sure about Candy, but unlike Uschi, she did a lot of live performances in strip clubs, and for a period of time she traveled the world over performing live strip shows. She was interviewed by the Rialto Report website, and I have downloaded her interview, but still have not listened to it. I'm sure she probably goes into some detail on her life outside of the industry.

By "Michelle", I assume you mean Michelle Angelo. I have never read a detailed interview with her, so I'm not sure. Unlike Uschi and Candy, who also appeared in lots of drive-in/sexploitation films, Michelle only appeared in a handful of films, so it wouldn't appear she earned as much off of her looks as they did.

I listened to the Rialto Report and it is filled with sad sagas of how men Candy was with, ended up taking her money and so, I think, if I recall, she probably kept working in the mid 80s just to try and keep up. I think, like Kay Parker and probably others, owning a home was not always the case even in older age.

Since we are all grown-ups here, a lot of the girls in the 1970s worked in various roles in the sex industry. Dawn Knudsen worked for an outcall service in Los Angeles from 1974 to 1980 or so. Roberta Pedon worked on and off as as a prostitute in San Francisco.
