Default I have seen something unusual

This thread is about you seeing something unusual. Here are the guidelines for this thread.

This is a text only thread. You may not post photos, pictures, cartoons, or graphs. Also this is not a sexual thread. You may not post any thing of a sexual nature.

This is about you seeing something which you think is unusual. It could be a strange person, place or thing. It could be strange weather phenomena, something you saw in the sky or night sky. It can't be a UFO. It can't be unexplainable. There is a thread called The Unexplainable so if you can't explain it it must go into that thread. It can be a strange animal or insect you saw. It can be something you saw in a museum, or an amusement park or a carnival or at a circus. Also I would like you to provide any emotions you felt from seeing this thing if possible. I will start
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1964 my parents sent my brother and I to this great Summer camp called Camp Martin Johnson in Irons, Michigan. It was a YMCA camp. It was a typical large camp with a swimming pool for kids to use to learn how to swim. There was a big lake near the camp which was used to teach kids how to row boats and canoes. There was an archery field and a shooting range. It also had these wooden cottages where 8 boys and a male counselor would sleep. There were also cottages for girls with female counselors. The camp also had this large dining pavilion where all the kids and counselors had all their meals. One warm bright summer day my brother and I were heading to the dining pavilion to have lunch which lasted for about 45 minutes. I finished my lunch earlier than usual and wanted to leave. When I left the pavilion I noticed that the sky was getting dark with ominous clouds forming. The temperature had dropped and the wind had picked up. I was walking toward the cottages when I happened to look up in the sky and I saw this strange cloud. It was rotating. Then the wind really started to blow, and in just a few minutes this rotating cloud turned into a tornado. It hung down from a dark cloud and started to move across the sky in a westward direction. I ran back to the dining pavilion to try to get some of the other kids to see this, but no one moved. I think they thought I was making a joke. I left and went back to the same place I was before and the tornado was still there. It never touched the ground. At one point the funnel passed right over me. I could see the bottom of it swirling. It was both frightening and beautiful. It sailed through the sky for 20 more minutes and then just started to fall apart. In just a few minutes more it was gone. The dark clouds started to clear, the sun came out again and the temperature went back up. I saw my first tornado. I have never seen anything like that again.

I saw comet Hale-Bopp in 1997 but so did thousands of people so it wasn't unique to me. I first saw it very early in the morning at about 5am while it was still dark (obviously) and it looked like a 'smudge' of light up there in space. It gave me a feeling of unease just as witnessing a comet made people fearful and wary hundreds of years ago. I thought "what's that? That shouldn't be there" as it was a 'stranger' in the night sky. Only later did I realise I'd seen comet Hale-Bopp and saw it again quite often before it moved off back into the the distant solar-system and too far for the naked eye to see.

I once saw twin tornadoes in Hawaii ,a few miles off shore near Turtle Bay.They whirled for several minutes ,them simply looked as if they were sucked up by the sky!

Don't know of anyone considers this in the realm of fantastic, now that we're mentioning wind? I was pumpimg gas at a local station years ago, & this I'd say, mid 20s busty, shapely cutie, in a flimsy sun dress & high heels was doing the same next to me, filling up her car with gas, & of course that dress very nicely!A huge gust of wind, now that we are writting of winds, so to speak, suddenly blew up very strongly & that dress went up over her head so high, I saw just about all she "owned"!Enough to see that she was braless , & had some very nice, oh maybe 36 Ds or Cs, & was wearing a thong panties! What a superb set of legs!

Well to me its was fantastic, "trailman"!OMG, if & when the pictures from your mind can be "uploaded'!

When I was young I got the chance to appear on 'Record Breakers' as they announced before the recording they were looking for two kids to use a peashooter, but I chickened out at the last moment but I did get to SEE something fantastic, the actual making of the show and be in the audience with my sister. I also got to be on 'A Question of Sport' - the 'dummy' run - and got to SEE the recording of it twice in a couple of years.
However, if we are talking about phenomenon and the like then I saw the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam in 2005 on a trip to Las Vegas. The Canyon was astounding and the Dam enormous.

When I was about 10 I was playing in a Pee Wee League baseball game and it began to rain. We headed off the field to take cover until it blew over as summer storms often don't last very long. We hadn't gotten far when it stopped raining. Looking around we noticed that our game was the only one interrupted by rain. We were able to stand and watch it rain on our diamond while everyone else played on oblivious to what was happening. It was a fun experience for the kids and parents involved and the first and only time I have been on the very edge of a storm.

I was working in New Zealand and we were told there was going to be a total eclipse of the sun, I'd seen them before and since, but this one was special, maybe due to there being no outside lighting. A few of us guys arranged to meet in the welding bay which had access to an outside door and welding masks with which we could safely view the eclipse.

We stepped outside to view it, and sure enough it started to get dark, all the bird song and cicada noise stopped, it was positively creepy, but I could still hear a murmuring coming from the inside of the building. I went inside and all the, let's say non white members of staff were knelt at there benches, praying their hearts out. It should have been funny, but it truly freaked me out, people I knew and liked genuinely were afraid the sun would not come back.

Probably the most incredible thing I have ever seen is the cabinet war rooms under the ministry of defence in London.

It was the bunker that Churchill and his cabinet would use to conduct the business of government during an air raid, it was sealed off after the war so was perfectly preserved exactly as it was. The rooms themselves are behind perspex glass, but you can walk around. There is the table around which the cabinet sat, bedrooms, map rooms (including a map on which somebody had doodled a drawing of Hitler), and even Churchill's own private 'toilet', which was actually a tiny room that contained a secure telephone line to the white house, which was so top secret that even members of staff in the bunker believed it to be Winnie's personal convenience.

It's amazing, and eerie, it's like stepping back in time. I don't believe in ghosts, but if I did, that's where I'd go to look for them. I've been twice, once with a friend, and then again with my wife. Can't recommend it highly enough if you're in London

Back around the mid-80's my father was sitting out on our front stone wall and I was in the backyard doing something or other, when all of a sudden it began to downpour. I went and stood under one of our window awnings out of the rain. Several or more minutes went by and I began to wonder where my father was -- I couldn't imagine him still sitting on the wall in the pouring rain! So I proceeded to go the front of the house to investigate.
Now my house is about 90 feet long -- when I got about half way up the driveway (which is also halfway up the side of my house) the ground was dry and the sun was shining, but yet it was still pouring in my backyard!
When I told him that I came to look for him because it was pouring in back of our house he thought I was loony! When I got him to come with me and check it out he could hardly believe it either -- He and I both thought that was rather amazing ... and we both never saw or experienced anything like that again since.

When much younger (perhaps around 7 or 8 in the mid 1970's) I saw something that I can only describe as Ball Lightning, a small sphere of energy about 6 inches in diameter that had appeared in the living room.
I was transfixed and not sure at what I was seeing as it slowly glided around for about 5 seconds before slow & smoothly drifting out of the window (straight through the glass) out into the sky.

I would ordinarily put this down to imagination but my younger sister saw it too and similarly described it's movements.
Never freaked us out, we just put it down to one of a few infrequent strange occurrences that happened at that place around that time.

When I was pretty young... maybe 7 or 8, me and the folks drove to Michigan to visit friends of ours who had moved there from our state. One evening we were driving down the highway and it was an amazing sunset... but what added to that was that it had just rained nearby and there was a rainbow as well. It's one of my earliest memories and I think my mom managed to get a photo but it's probably lost in the depths of their home somewhere.

More recent: I park my car about a block away from my business (the town doesn't like us parking on the main street) and walking past someone's back yard I hear a ruckus up in a tree. I look up just in time to see a couple of squirrels fighting and one knocks the other off the tree branch, probably some 25 feet up. He didn't seem to get injured, though, as he fell smack dab in the center of the 2 foot high kiddie pool that just happened to be directly underneath him. If he'd fallen 5 feet further in either direction he would have hit the ground.
