Default zero hours contracts .....luddites unite !

theyre in the news a lot the zero hours
labour like to blame the conservatives for them and visa versa .

the thing to blame is that oblong bit of plastic you carry round with you called a mobile phone .
employers can get hold of you whenever ,wherever ,and summons you into work .

i'm just on a temp contract myself and thats how things are .
15 or 20 years ago you were given a few weeks work in advance .

not anymore
technology has seen to that

I've just had a home visit from DWP during which I told & showed them my mobile phone is ancient, won't hold a charge and even cuts-off while plugged into the charger.
That I can't afford a new one and that I'm not tech savvy enough or financially able to have internet

If any employer wants me on a rope , they can pay for the rope - I'm not supplying my own noose!

It's no permanant solution I guess but it keeps the Ba$t^rds at arms length

Yes, they try to trip you up with questions like how can you afford that TV I just said my dad bought it for me. For all you get they make a big deal out of it.

She suggested I apply for PIP benefit, which is initially made over the phone
I used another phone, I told 'em I'd borrowed it just to make that call & made sure they took the original number I gave to the DWP,
...the guy knew I was on a different Number
- I've surrendered that Original mobile as a 'bollox line' , it gets plagued by PPI & Insurance cold calls & texts anyway

Still making me go to a 'crowbar you into work' interview tho

I'm on DLA which PIP replaces. N. Ireland won't sign up to the new regime and get fined millions every month. Sinn Fein won't sign, quite right too.

Isn't it wonderful that in a modern society, we can have the bias shifted towards an employer so drastically for the only possible reason of manipulating unemployment figures.

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/may/06/labour-coalition-zero-hours-contracts

It is significantly more difficult for someone like myself with OCD, I find uncertainty and breaks in routine particularly hard to deal with, causing further angst and anxiety,
and that's before you even consider the financial complexities and pressures of not knowing what hours you may have to commit to, plus what effect that may have to a persons social life & family
Ester McVey, a third rate Ex-TV presenter is heading this flagship move , no doubt dreamt-up by Iain Duncan-Smith never mind love there's a promise of a cabinet job for you if you avoid the Party Whip !

Seems fair enough to me - if you knock back paid work why should the rest of us keep you!

Labour - Blames the conservatives.

Conservatives - Blames Labour.

Lib Dem - Offers to take the blame. Calls a press conference to apologise for being rubbish.

UKIP - Marries a German. Gives her all the overtime she wants. Charges party funds every time she makes him a sandwich.

Monster Raving Looney Party - Buys a fez.

What nobody does - Anything about it.

The 0 hour contract is an evil little thing, and one that is destroying the job market.
It allows a company to take on more workers than they need and to divide too few hours among too many staff workers.
How are you supposed to pay your bills one week if your boss says that works a bit slack so you're only getting 15 hours that week?

Just as there is a minimum wage, there should also be a minimum amount of hours an employee has a right to work every week.
