David Carradine found dead
This guy really inspired me.He was Quai Chgang caine in Kung-Fu, "Bill" in Kill Bill, a great Martial Artist, and the author of a book I make required reading for my Karate students.

the speculation is that this great actor killed himself. Apparently he had a history of thinking about killing himself. Seems he finally did it. I grew up with Kung Fu, and was very impressed by the way he took the spiritual aspects of the role seriously and refused to make it a stereotypical cliche. I was also impressed by the gravitas and dignity he brought to Kill Bill. Shame...

Have removed several posts as my fellow members have mistakenly taken this thread to be one where they get to speculate on rumors , or generally take the piss out of a man who achieved a great deal during his life and now for whatever reason is dead
It`s not So only condolences along with recollections of his career thanks , as anything else will be deleted and the members involved personally contacted David Carradine RIP (December 8, 1936 June 3, 2009)

Rest in peace, Mr Carradine
David Carradine is a significant loss to all who enjoyed their schlock flavoured with intelligence and class. He entertained a vast number and did so with honour and skill. He was, incidentally, a member of a distinguished acting family. His brother Keith also acted with distinction (check out Ridley Scott's early gem of a film, The Duellist which also features Harvey Keitel in an early role) and of course his father, John Carradine was a really first class film, stage and TV actor.
I am particularly sorry that it appears to have been a suicide: please God not foul play. May the earth lie softly on him.

In addition to that book, I encourage my students to read, "Living the Martial Way: A Manual for the Way of Modern Warrior Should Think" by Forrest Morgan, and " Zen In The Martial Arts" by Joe Hyams. Those three books shaped my entire mentality on living, training, and utilization of our techniques. Of the three, I think Carradine's would be the best reading for non martial artists, especially if you liked his characters and want to get to know the man. |
