Seems a waste of money to buy it now. I remembered being shocked the first time I went to Spain in the 90s to find h/c Private Mags on display in the local convenience store, and h/c vids in the local video rental. This when h/c was completely illegal in the UK. I was also surprised at the hypocrisy when I got disapproving looks from the store owner when I bought it.
Thank god the internet has blown a massive great hole through Porn regulation and saves us from the ordeal of buying it in shops. |

Whenever there's an anti-porn moral scare in the UK, whipped up by the gutter press or the government, I often wonder if porn IS so awful, how come the sky hasn't yet fallen in on those countries where they don't have our hang-up about it. And in what ways life is worse there compared to here.

Since possession of porn was legalized 1974. in Yugoslavia you could buy it in every newsstand, supermarket... everywhere where you see any newspapers. Actually, there was no any penalties for this from late 1960s - by law for softcore, but in real-life for everything.
In other hand, every form of earning money by sex acts was (and still is, except some forms in Slovenia) is illegal. Basically - only amateur porn was allowed to produce. Trade was legal. But imports were unlimited by law, and some state companies have dealt with by that! So we practically had all issues of CCC, Private, and few smaller companies on the market. To repeat - literally all issues! Remind you - ex Yugoslavia was communist state... Alongside amateur, in Yugoslavia was printed porn with foreign models, usually some mix of CCC scenes. In last ~10 years there is few new but reasonable law limitations, similar in any ex-Yugoslavian republi - the most basic: suppression of extreme porn, selling in plastic bags and recommendations to avoid scenes of penetration on front page. |

The same system of h/c porn alongside sunglasses and suncream also exists in Cyprus, or it did a few years ago when I visited.
It was said that in Spain when Franco popped off his mortal coil all the repressive years of abstinence blew up in a frenzy and porn became suddenly available everywhere. I think the same thing happened in a lot of the former soviet states, whether satellite or otherwise. Years of Soviet Centralised repression suddenly lifted and kapow! Though a retrenching of the church in these countries has probably curbed the worst excesses of freely available sexual material/TV or at least calmed it down. The old mantra is right, if you deprive people of a pleasure they'll always want it badly. Aka, prohibition in the USA. Here in good old blightly, in the days of high art, the powers that be used to believe that only the Upper Classes had the ability to control themselves when enjoying porn (or high art as they used to pretend it was) and that the lower classes had to be censored for their own good as porn was likely to turn them into ravening beasts. |

Nevertheless, Soviet goverment were too tight, it is now clear. A little simple fun from "rotten" West would not hurt. And probably would have prevented the current extremes ... And yes, Cyprus and Greece have very relaxed approach to the implementation of law, and law is liberal, so... only not so much production. |

Not "out in the shops," but, when I was living in Germany in the early 1980s, I saw a scene-within-a-scene of explicit hardcore bondage porn -- a blowjob shot -- in a "kitchen sink drama" movie about an abusive husband on broadcast TV in what Americans think of as "Prime Time."
I had an American television, not compatible with German TV signals, so everything I saw was in black-and-white, and silent. I used to get a lot of pleasure out of a lot of those shows, though! In this particular movie, there is a violently abusive husband who holds his wife and young daughter in a grip of fear. One of the movie's earliest scenes starts with a close-up of a bound, nude woman, tied spread-eagled, sucking on a man's cock. The camera pulls back, and we see it's on TV in a suburban living room. The father sits in what is clearly "his" chair, the central point in the room, with a beer in his hand. On the floor near the TV, his young daughter, maybe five or six, is playing with toys on the floor. The wife enters from the kitchen, clearly fearful of him, and the view shifts between them for some dialogue. I'm pretty sure the camera doesn't return to the porn on the TV. But there it was, in all its disturbing -- in the context -- glory, on Prime-Time broadcast over-the-air TV. I thought that was pretty extraordinary. |
