Thumbs up

Today I learned to speak my heart and to get the unpleasant over with quickly:

Summary:

The GF has been pressuring Xexemedes to move in to my house.

When I have raised my doubts the GF says something gentle and soothing like : "Well you better get over it quickly" (verbatim actually)

Three times I have talked to her about this, civilly and logically, three times she said something like, "Oh....I'm sorry to hear that, now, we'll put my hutch over here, and get rid of your aquarium and ..."

So, finally, when her mail began to arrive , Xexemedes had enough:
"You shall not pass!"

Start the second reel here with all the water works, and the "Why didn't you tell me sooner? () " and "This is not a good time to tell me this", and "I can't believe you're doing this, it is such a shock, I had no idea you felt this way. I don't know if I can ever trust you again (wtf )"

So we took a "break" in dating for a while-she has moved into a beautiful apartment. I met her for lunch today, full circle now, and I was pretty sure that I did not want the relationship to go much further than the end of the lamb chops and mashed potatoes (excellent btw). But I decided to test the waters one last time.

We took a walk after lunch, went to an historic cemetery and I tried gently to discuss how I felt about her not listening to me and forcing her way into my house. She breezed it away and tried to turn it back on me. Then she said that lots of other couples have overcome far greater difficulties, and that maybe I (Xexemedes) needed some counseling. (Xexemedes was in counseling all winter-and I'll be damned if anyone but me makes that suggestion)

That was the final straw. I told her there and then that I did not want to continue the relationship. She "didn't hear me" and I had to tell her three times, each with more clarity and surety, until finally with red rimmed eyes she said, "well thats it then". I walked her back to her work, gave her a hug and drove away.

I had been putting this conversation off for a week or so now to avoid the discomfort of it all. But as I was speaking the words I knew they were all true. I feel stronger, more confident, more mature even, and I know that by facing the uncomfortable today I was doing the best thing for Xexemedes' future.

Now I just have to figure out what to do about all our mutual friends on Face book

Blessings young children: sleep peacefully and well. Let the grown-ups sleep not, but open their eyes.

NEVER crash out in an urban garden. They're full of dog turds, cat piss and the vomit of others who (probably) made it home.
I once took the "hotel" option and slept behind the sofa in a strange house. I managed to escape undetected in the morning.
Another time I copped some zeez on the beach. There was much hilarity amongst onlookers viewing from the promenade as the tide rolled in.
Happy daze.

Many moons ago I was a member of a sea angling club. A lot of booze was taken two members passed out on the beach as the tide was coming in. We had to save them or they would have drowned the silly buggers.

Imagine if you'd all scrambled over the rocks for access to the best spot?

Cool Twisted Logic

What I Learned Today

After reading the thread title for the first time I learned that my memory is in fine working order, it reminded me of something I heard many years ago, was still at school, went like this

The more I learn the more I forget, the more I forget the less I know, the less I know the stupider I am, so why learn ?

Make sense

Isn't that the Fox News motto?

Ah, no my mistake - it's the motto of Fox News viewers.
