Did you watch the X-Men films? Magneto is not such a bad guy. I can even understand him. When Xavier believes that mutants and normal humans can live together, he also never was badly molested like Erik during his childhood.
Erik does not trust normal humans.

And... damned. I almost can say that he was my favorite film character... Only Jean Gray is stronger than him. Even Xavier can't fight against him when Magneto wears his helmet.

When well inked, the art of John Byrne is absolutely fantastic.

Indeed. Chris Claremont turned him from a pretty standard issue megalomaniac to a figure worthy of Greek tragedy.

Just before that one of my friend showed me the Uncanny X-Men penciled by John Byrne, my favorite drawings were made by John Romita Jr inked by Bob Layton.
I've stopped to read comics books a long time ago. But for the few times I had a look at comics books, Iron Man never was penciled better than this tandem.
