5 Headed Shark Attack (2017)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6719524/

well, er it's about a mutated shark with five heads (or 4 that I can see) and of course people have to get close to the edges of boats to have a look When it attacks a boat it looks like an inflated rubber glove ...... A SyFy original so it's going to be funny at the very least

Edit - just seen the 5th head

Sharknado 5: Global Swarming (2017)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6298780/

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the last few years the concept is pretty simple, tornadoes gather up sharks and launch them inland against the general population, only now the phenomenon is not just confined to the USA. When shark warriors Fin & April Shepherd's son Gil is swept away when a Sharknado hits London they head off to try and rescue him as he is carried off on a grand tour.
Lots of daft puns, guest stars aplenty and sheer utter nonsense.

Detroit. It's an "acting documentary" about the Detroit riots of the late 60s. Interesting, riveting stuff. Eye-opening. A bit one-sided, but mostly accurate.

Thanks to diamelsx for bringing up "Searching for Bobby Fischer(1993)"

One of my "Desert Island Movies" personal faves. Many memorable scenes. Fishburne, Montegna, Kingsley, Allen, Macy, even a then-unknown Laura Linney as the teacher. Good score. Very heartfelt ending. HIGHLY recommended.
Here is a sample. Simply the best part of the film.

Life (2017)

A tea of astronauts in the international space station are studying a sample received from Mars, at first it seems like a cute amoeba like being they call Calvin but it's not long before Calvin shows his true colours, great ending, brings to mind The Quatermass Experiment

Watched "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol2" yesterday, and I have to agree about it being too long and turgid in places.
The first "Guardians Of The Galaxy" movie was an enjoyable exception to the standard Superhero movie fare. This one felt like just more of the same, sadly...

Default Two Dario Argento flicks

Suspiria (1977)

Trailer

Suzy Bannion (Jessica Harper), a student from the US, arrives at a dance academy in Freiburg, Germany. As it's pouring outside, she tries to get someone to answer the door and witnesses a student fleeing the school. Suzy is not let inside but returns the very next day and is told by Miss Tanner (Alida Valli) that the previous night was a misunderstanding. It soon becomes known that the young student who ran away was murdered. Strange things begin to happen and Suzy becomes sick. She's put on a special diet that seems to knock her out at night. Everyone who begins to realize that something's wrong with the academy is either murdered or at great risk.

Considered a cult classic by many, I found it to be very dull and boring. The lighting and settings were great though. Dario Argento's horror films are very colorful and reminiscent of Mario Bava's films. The music was composed and performed by the Italian progressive rock band Goblin.

Inferno (1980)

Trailer

Rose Elliot (Irene Miracle), a young poetess from New York, buys a book called The Three Mothers, written by a mysterious architect, E. Varelli. It's about three evil sisters who rule the world with sorrow, tears and darkness. Each of them has a house built for her in Freiburg, Rome and New York. Rose suspects that her apartment is in one of those buildings and tries to contact her brother Mark (Leigh McCloskey) who studies musicology in Rome. Mark's friend Sara (Eleonora Giorgi) finds another copy of the aforementioned book and is murdered soon after. After finally reading Rose's letter, Mark decides to fly back to New York, only to discover that his sister has disappeared. He begins to investigate.

Generally regarded as a sequel to Suspiria, this is definitely a much better film in my opinion. It has all the typical features of a Dario Argento movie but stands out with a better plot and acting. Keith Emerson took care of the great soundtrack.

Just watched "What happened to Monday", a new Netflix movie. According to IMDb,
Quote:
In a world where families are limited to one child due to overpopulation, a set of identical septuplets must avoid being put to a long sleep by the government and dangerous infighting while investigating the disappearance of one of their own.
It's far from great, but it's entertaining; watching Noomi Rapace playing 7 sisters is quite interesting. First half of the movie is weak, but the 2nd half gets a lot better.

PATTI CAKE$

Australian actress Danielle Macdonald has stated she has never rapped ,or performed before getting the role in PATTI CAKE$.
She could have fooled me because the verses flow from her mouth as if she has been rapping for years.

The story was familiar to me and i felt it borrowed a bit from films like 8 Mile and Hustle & Flow, but as i watched the character Patti AKA Killer P fantasize about being on stage ,while dealing with a hard drinking mother, ailing grandmother, work and put downs it's a story with it's own heart.
Patti is uplifted by a fellow rapper and friend Jheri (Siddharth Dhananjay) and finds a kindrid spirit in another musician Basterd (Mamoudou Athie )

The film is well acted by all involved it does have the cloud of indie hype hovering over it but in the end it's a very good story about striving for more in life, and trying to make big dreams a reality.

Scale of 1-10 an 8

Logan Lucky

Director Stephen Soderbergh returns to big screen films with Logan Lucky a hill billy version of his former Ocean's 11 films.
The heist involves getting a large amount of money from the vault at a North Carolina speedway during a major NASCAR event.

It definitely has a Coen Brothers vibe as we are introduced to eccentric and likeable characters, who have great banter between them
The cast which includes Channing Tatum, Hilary Swank, Seth MacFarlane, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterston, Sebastian Stan, Riley Keough, Daniel Craig, Adam Driver, David Denham all bring their A game with Craig completely losing himself in his role and stealing any scene he's in

Im so happy the film didnt fall into cliches with the family drama in the film
It's fun watching the heist and what happens after as i watched things come together
The pacing slows up here and there and some things were far to coincidental at times.
In the end this was a fun southern fried romp and a cool return for Soderbergh.

Scale of 1-10 an 8

The Hitman's Bodyguard

I thought for sure this was just going to be a so so film in the end because of what was presented in the trailers that i felt were a bit lackluster.
Fortunately The Hitman's Bodyguard surpasses any of the dullness seen in the trailers.
Former C.I.A agent Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) has to protect and get notorious hitman Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson) to court to testify against Vladislav Dukhovich(Gary Oldman) a ruthless dictator
Easier said than done because they share a terrible history and have tons of bad blood for each other
Plus henchman galore and turncoats seem to pop up everywhere.

Director Patrick Hughes let's Jackson and Reynold's do their thing which was a great decision.
Salma Hayek is great as Sonia Kincaid, Darius’s salty and tough wife.
The film excels when the two men have a few moments to catch their breaths and talk about their relationships and "war' stories, even the dramatic moments are very effective.

There is an odd shift in tones in the film at times ,there are plenty of 'buddy" cliches and predictable moments and the henchman actually get more screen time than the villain
Despite all of this i got a lot of laughs and a good time out of this one

Scale of 1-10 a 7½
