Anyone remember this Red Magazine ad from 1999 showing a girl stripping to black undies?
"The Strip" Shown in the summer of 1999, it centers on a 30-something woman arriving home and proceeding to remove her clothes in time to an up-tempo soundtrack, as if she is doing a striptease for an audience. The ad cheekily uses double entendre throughout, as the woman, in time to the music, suggestively strips down to her black stockings and underwear, clearly enjoying herself as she does so. It culminates with the woman curled up on a cream sofa piled high with red cushions. She is dressed in comfy sweats, has a smile on her lips, and is happily perusing a copy of Red magazine. The fmal frame has the words "Red Magazine. Drop everything." This description is lifted from an article titled "Red Time is Me Time" which can be found at http://vertr.com/misc/School%20Archi...ch/9565610.pdf Anyone else remember it? And does anyone have a video file? |

I've been looking for this commercial for ever (and I don't mean to discourage the OP but my search brought me here!) I hadn't come across the capture before now so that's progress

Here is some more information about the ad from CampaignLive.
"Red marks its anniversary in raunchy Rainey Kelly ad By EMMA HALL, campaignlive.co.uk, Friday, 08 January 1999 12:00AM Be the first to comment Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe rolls out a raunchy commercial for Emap Elan’s Red magazine this week, marking the anniversary of the title’s launch. Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe rolls out a raunchy commercial for Emap Elan’s Red magazine this week, marking the anniversary of the title’s launch. The ad shows a woman relishing some precious time to herself when she gets home from work to an empty flat. After checking her telephone messages, she indulges in a saucy striptease to the tune of the song, Fun For Me, by the band, Moloko. The woman peels off her work garments - not as a prelude to seduction but in preparation for changing into her comfortable clothes and curling up on the sofa with a copy of Red. Kerry Tasker, the marketing director of Emap Elan, said: ’This commercial sums up what Red is all about; it is grown up but still great fun. It is also a treat to read.’ Red was launched in January 1998 and has already achieved an average ABC circulation of 190,000. Emap is planning to launch the title in other markets around the world. The commercial was written by Phil Cockrell and art directed by Graham Storey. " It was directed by Andy Morahan of the Paul Weiland Film Company. |
