No Doubt about = it is Romania , with hand held ' Professional ' signs
saying 4 kids to feed , no money etc

They have that light brown Romany look

and in the early morning , today , at 6.30am , I was in the Bus and saw them being off loaded from a Van , and walking to their patch ( and one genuine ' British ' one was sleeping in a Shop Alcove entrance - )
and with a full blanket
( how you sleep at 7am in bright sun , I don't know )

May be it seems too big of a hassle to fill out any kind of public aid applications for typical American people who have for generations been learnedly helpless in their overcoming poverty why not just try that guy in the big house on the hill.

Most of these street people, I would guess, don't WANT any help from the government, because it comes with conditions. They just want free food, the opportunity to beg money to buy booze and drugs, and a park to sleep in.

I think the only "assistance" most would be interested in is a monthly wad of cash over the counter with no questions asked, and you know what it would get spent on.

Poverty is understandable, in our capitalist economy, but letting yourself go to the level of an animal? That I can't understand. Even cats bury their poop, why can't a human?

or like a growing number of the homeless they feel that their job(s) should be able to provide a roof over their heads.

not denying that there is that element out there but we got to understand that a lot of these people are getting priced out of the market and things that we wants to for granted are getting Place further and further Out Of Reach with some people.

When Society pushes you further and further to the margins you end up resorting to more and more desperate measures to do everyday things.

I sense that a spirit of gambling has taken over a lot of people in America. Obviously the enthusiastic poor will willingly fork over 10 or 20 dollars a week with moderate to unrealistically high hopes of hitting the jackpot and getting all the trappings of success overnight.
