Yep! Me too. Used to work a lot on fixing cars (hobby not profession) and I never wore jewellery because of the dangers of getting things caught in machinery. I particularly dislike rings - no metal to skin.

The recent missile strikes by President Trump and the U.S. Navy (59 cruise missiles?) have already been protested by activists in the streets. I have a feeling that these people aren't even leftists, just people who are like their Biblical counterparts: people who "protest to be seen protesting", like certain 10th-graders in my high school...

Seriously, Rand Paul went on TV to say that only Congress can declare war, but if the President is commander-in-chief, which way does the chain of command function? On one hand, we certainly don't want a situation like Vietnam turned out to be, where President LBJ didn't have a good idea of what to do and our nation was not directly threatened. But the chemical weapons attack, plus terror attacks in Egypt and Sweden within 48 hours, basically demanded an immediate response.

For the future, I hope that Rand Paul and less warlike people in Congress will ask the Congress to debate military action versus the Syrian regime, as well as why we are still at odds with Russia, who Trump initially wanted "closer ties" with. We could, if deciding on a course of military action, assemble a coalition in the United Nations to legitimize the action, and this time make sure that Russia is onboard with what the coalition does.

I'm not interested in another war and/or occupation like Iraq, but Saddam Hussein didn't attack anyone with chemical weaponry, and Assad apparently has. And with the Iraqi occupation going poorly for the U.S. back when Bush Jr. was President, would regime change followed by U.N. Peacekeepers actually work better? It's telling that the entire world believes terrorism and N/B/C weaponry are wrong, but that America is still thought of as the World's Policeman.

Saddam used Mustard against the Iranians in the Iran/Iraq war and nerve agent against his own people at Halabja.

A couple of things.
  1. The Constitution is on Rand Paul's side on this, Article 1, Section 8 to be exact.
  2. What does Sweden and Egypt have to do with Syria?
Your view shows a lack of understanding of basic civics. I going to break it down like this.
Military=fighter
Commander in chief=trainer
Congress=manger/promoter
Commander in chief job is to make command decisions once war is declared, not to unilaterally declare war himself.
As for the other point. What does two attacks done apparently by ISIS associates have to do with the US attacking a country that is fighting ISIS? Help me make sense of that argument cause I can't. Another reason why jumping into random barfights usually do not lead to anything good...

The PC media, again

A few years back our former Prime Minister Tony Abbott was filmed sculling a beer in a Sydney pub in 6 seconds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQYLi5Pq24c

Tony is a bit old fashioned, not well liked by womens groups, gay community and so on
Tony wasn't well liked by the media, after he did that out came the comments in the media where he was attacked saying he was promoting binge drinking and adding alcohol fuelled domestic violence against women.

Tony's opponent here, Bill Shorten is almost the exact opposite of Tony in many respects, he's very PC

This week, he sculled a beer also and it was filmed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hNmXt7okBg

Media reaction, almost zero apart from laughing it took 16 seconds

But where's the left media now

Those poor jewels went through hell. Crushed by vast tonnages of rock, metamorphosed by extreme heat and folded and re-folded until their structure was broken.

Then you, a heartless employer, want to compound their misery by entrapping them in cages of precious metal and putting them out on display to be gawped at by the idle public.

I am outraged by your insensitivity I will continue to fight for the freedom of oppressed chemical compounds everywhere.
