Well, since right now there is little joy in Pegulaville, I've got no dog in the fight as far as the playoffs go. Since my team was the worst in the league and the teams I hate the most aren't in the playoffs, I'd like to see either Montreal or Calgary win, as a Canadian team hasn't won the Cup since the Habs won it in 1993. Barring that, the Rangers or Blackhawks.

Switzerland losing to Austria is the first upset of the tournament
Nice to see Germany scoring, since they will not have many changes to do so

As a disgruntled Devils fan, I'd want anyone but the Rangers.

Canada-Germany 10-0. It could have been even more but the Canadians took it easy. Of course I didn't expect this match to be tight, but the way our team gave itself in was worrisome to say the least.
At least my Finns beat Danmark quite easily 3-0. Russia vs USA and Canada vs The Czechs coming up tomorrow...

Is it possible that a team from Florida could win the Stanley Cup? With a 6'-7" goalie standing on his head, Tampa Bay is looking tough. But something seems wrong with the world if a team from Florida beats the Canadians and goes on to win the cup. I'm a Flyers fan, having grown up near Philly, watching the Broad Street Bullies, and I can take them not even being in the playoffs, but the Stanley Cup winners being from the Sunshine State just doesn't seem right. Whats next, the US winning the World Cup?

In case you forgot, Tampa Bay won the Cup just a few years ago.

I like Tampa's team. It's been a long time since an NHL team's location had anything to do with where it's players come from. They're all Canadians, Americans, and various Europeans playing the game. I cheer for my favorite individual players to succeed when my team is out of the playoffs.
Which they always are lately..... |
