any vintage photographers on here?
I was wondering if there's any photographers from back in the old days who maybe took pictures for magazines like Escort and Razzle and still have picture sets they took, perhaps with additional pictures that never made it into the magazines? Would be really cool to see some.

Some of the pics shooted before 1975 were used in two ways : censored in France (the hairs were hidden by the means of different techniques) and uncensored outside (mainly NL and Germany). You can refer to my threat "censored - uncensored pics. |

I'd love to see extra photos from Escort's "girls about town" shoots. That would be sweet.

I worked as a lawyer in the business from 1973 to 1982. Gunner is correct, but the issue is even more ironclad: The producer would give the photographer however many rolls of film they expected to shoot. After the shoot, the photographer would turn in the rolls for processing by the company. A couple of photographers would pick up editorial rejects and save them. A few years ago sets of shots of Roberta Pedon that had been rejected for publication were published by Score. Score had bought them from one of those guys. But that's about the only way they come out.

That is true now. Back in the 1970s in the U.S. there was a formal registration procedure to secure a copyright. Nobody in the porn business used it; the magazines never figured there would be an after-market for the pictures.

Eric Wilkins photographed a lot for Swish, a UK spanking mag.
He not only kept all his images, but presumably the copyright, as in 2005 he published a book 'Spank!' based on his negatives from the time. The collection seem to include images used by the mag, but possibly they are unused images close to what was printed in Swish - I haven't done a close check. There are also a lot of images not in the mag, including many real sex ones that could not have been published in a UK mag in the 80's. The book is thoroughly recommended if you have an interest in spanking. |
