I posted my experiences in another thread, but I did get to be friends with Linda Shaw for a few years while living in California. She was genuine and really nice and loved meeting people.

I also met Ginger Lynn, Christy Canyon, Sharon Cain (Shirley Woods) and Barbara Dare. I met the last three at the Las Vegas CES in 1990 and of those three only Christy was super nice and chatty. This is about the day i met a porn star, i was around 16 and a half back in the summer of 1978 and my local football club used to have some kind of a fundraising event at the ground each summer back then, this year the celeb was Mary Millington, just been a young lad back then i knew she did nude magazine shots but did not know about the hardcore stuff, if my football club still had these events i can't see them hiring a porn model nowdays.

I was at a Throbbing Gristle convention at the ICA about 10 years ago. I was probably the most interestingly dressed person there (surprisingly) and I was with a beautiful girlfriend. Well I saw CFT looking quite mature by then, and she saw me and looked deeply into my eyes with a good kind of curiosity. I got shy and looked away, plus I suppose being with my girlfriend I felt a bit more so. If I knew then as much as I think I know now, I would have at least made an effort to strike up some kind of interaction. Hm... This thread reminds me of the good old days. I live in a Canadian city of a million people that -- unforgivably -- only has 3 strip clubs, all owned by the same people, and which never bring in feature dancers anymore. Yet as recently as 11-12 years ago, it was common for pornstar features to perform here on an almost weekly (or at least monthly) basis. And if they offered to do the polaroid thing, I was often in there like a dirty shirt.

The first "porn star" I saw live was big bust model LA Bust, and at the time it was actually legal for them to pose nude for the polaroids, so I got to enjoy two handfuls. My first real bonafide hardcore star was Alicia Monet, who had recently retired but was still doing some dancing. She was hot and I remember that she sat on my lap and actually ground into me a little bit as they took the picture (technically making that my first lap dance, I guess). I remember Alicia was a little heavier than she was in the videos, but it was all in the best places.

I also remember Letha Weapons coming to town and I actually spoke with her for a few minutes at the bar. There was one named Abbey Roads who you can see as a three-breasted hooker in the movie Bordello of Blood (she's also a peep show dancer in the first episode of Millennium), and Jenna Persaud, a Penthouse pet who did a few B-movies, too. And Julia Parton as I mentioned (I saw her around the time she was doing the Vice Academy films).

If I had to pick an all-time-favorite, it would be someone you've never heard of, most likely. Maria Duyadare was a Canadian dancer who made a couple of porn videos, too. She remains the gold standard, both in terms of performance and looks, but also in terms of after-show-Polaroid goodness, too. A close second was someone called Tara Part (not to be confused with porn actress Tera Heart) who used to incorporate a very real-looking orgasm into her show (somehow she got away with it even though I thought you couldn't do that on stage in my part of the world). She closely resembed Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex in the City. She told me after one show that she was going to be making a video, but she disappeared from the scene after that, so she must have retired.

I'm jaded now, of course, but the thrill I remember from my early 20s as I saw these porn stars in person was knowing that I could - in theory - go out and rent or buy videos of them having sex, and perhaps because I got to see them in person, I've always had a soft spot for these "privleged few". I only wish I'd had a chance to meet others who "did the circuit" before I had access to strip clubs, such as Taija Rae and Amber Lynn.

But I'm really annoyed at what seems to be an unwillingness for local strip clubs to pony up the extra few bucks and bring in big names. I've heard that our lovely government (provincial and federal) is partly to blame because of resrictions they've put in regarding allowing porn stars and strippers to come in from the US (it's worth noting that a number of the girls mentioned above are actually Canadians). Yet I still hear of big names playing Toronto and Vancouver. So I don't get it.

I wish I could say I've had "intimate knowledge" of any porn stars, but sadly, no. I keep debating about going down to Nevada for that fantasy, but the money and time just isn't there...

I met Deidre Holland sometime back in the early 90's when she was still a porn
performer. She was having a meet-and-greet with her fans at the local video store,
so of course I stopped by. Frankly, I didn't know what to expect. While she was
obviously a drop dead beauty, on screen she always came across as remote and
cool. As I walked in, there she was, totally nude and every bit the gorgeous creature
I was expecting. But what I didn't expect was her friendliness and warmth. She was
the kind of girl who looked at you when talking, and not some robotisized over-the-
