Apologies if this was covered previously.
I saw on the internet that x-rated porn is illegal to rent, buy, possess in Australia except for the ACT and Queensland. That got me wondering and I started doing a few searches on the internet. What I learned on the internet (other than ACT means Australian Capital Territory), is that it depends on who you ask. I'm getting the idea that the rules vary somewhat from state to state. All states agree that bad stuff, like child porn, is not tolerated. But for other types the rules vary and sometimes aren't even enforced even though they exist. I understand that one can't believe everything they read on the internet. So, I thought I'd ask, . . .on the internet, what are the rules? Is downloading treated differently, is possessing really okay though buying isn't? I am fascinated by this place.

The Aussie porn thread most likely covers all the bases about porn in Australia
even if it is a few years out of date Adult traders industry association website http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...75&postcount=4 History by hayt2009 http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...6&postcount=12 I havent kept up with the actual laws but the Australian site abby-winters having to leave Melbourne Victoria and take up base in Holland kind of tells its own story about how backward we really are towards porn. Abby Winters expulsion from Australia http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...9&postcount=66 From what i read about 5/6 years ago the Australia adult industry in relation to dvds was largely full of criminals/pirates,70% of the industry estimated to be as such, who the cops raid every now and then in the territories and confiscate large masses of cheap imported dvds. http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...ight=australia The owning of it,as long as its not illegal is OK As to where they've drawn the line I really couldnt say with any accuracy but i'm pretty sure they throw me in jail for a lot of stuff on my PC knowing their conservative religious values |

Those threads are really interesting reads. Any chance the political climate may change?

When they bring back feeding Christians to the lions would be my best guess
Politicians being what they are only follow agendas that win them votes A Pro-porn stance would be political suicide even if the bastards are consuming it themselves |

Tony Abbott is the Leader of the Opposition? I used to think Gordon Brown has something wrong with him somewhere. There must be someone better than Tony Abbott in the Australian Liberal Party.
