The Worst President In American History Poll
Please cast your vote in this poll while abiding by VEF guidelines & rules. Please note that I researched this controversial theme for a long time including many websites that were visited. I realize that there are no friends only colleagues in political life so it's vitally important to remember this crucial fact along with the comments posted on the chaotic internet.
Those who cast their vote and/or post their individual comments should be respected for their honesty while those who abandon this survey simply refuse to admit the truth as they perceive it while embracing hypocrisy as I believe that many VEF members especially American citizens may indeed avoid this post for blatantly obvious reasons which are static symbols. Thank You! Last edited by Soft Pillow; December 26th, 2009 at 05:54 AM.. Reason: Editing. |

The Worst President In American History Poll
In my opinion, Jimmy Carter and Barak Obama are tied for the worst, followed by Herbert Hoover and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

That's a little tough to answer;
Bush was bad at being a president while Nixon was the worst man who was president. Woodrow Wilson did the most damage by being the puppet that introduced the federal reserve bank. Arguably, the main thing that started the American War of Independence (betraying all those that lost their lives in the war) and a move that he publicly acknowledged as a mistake...but not until he was out of office! |

Best liar.. Obama. Wosrt president, early still to tell, but I'll award on same basis as his Nobel Peace Prize, to Obama, based upon confidence he'll earn the award/title outright.

I'd say FDR.
He introduced the welfare state, filled his (and his family's pockets) with taxpayers' money, lead the country to war and broke with the tradition of no third term. Read a book called "The Roosevelt Myth", that will give you the facts.

Unfortunately,in this recession we are in,everyone of us is likely to blame the president.He really has to take the blame,even,if,he isn't the one to blame.He has one of the hardest jobs in his life to do what he has to do is mind-boggling. Every president that ever was president anywhere has had the obligation to handle what he inherited,and go forth with that. Not an easy task for anyone.

In recent times given George W Bush was nothing more than a figurehead the Republicans used to woo the Christian vote than a President with his own ideas and agenda who started 2 wars which his cronies benefited from monetarily big time which took a huge surplus and turned it into a huge deficit
While the Democrats had a hand in setting up the lending debacle on 2007/8 which dragged the rest of the world into an economic downturn which we're still experiencing today it was the relaxing of the overseeing watchdogs through under resourcing which was really to blame. Hes in the top 10 of all time worst Presidents just going on what he started with and what he handed over to the incoming President GB will be remembered as a naive bumbling fool who did the bidding of the neo-conservatives(cheney,rumsfeld,wolfowitz)without even realising or caring about it Asleep at the wheel woudn't be an under statement when describing GBs presidency Last edited by buttsie; June 29th, 2012 at 01:15 AM.. I really cannot vote on only the two choices mentioned in the poll. Both were, in my opinion not the very best in holding the office. Though if I had to choose one, I would lean toward George W.
My reasoning would be that he squandered the goodwill the nations of the world showed us after 9/11 by invading Iraq based on flimsy evidence and also making it sound that if you didn't support him or his administration you were unpatriotic at best or an outright traitor at worst. It is also my opinion that he wasn't really in charge, Uncle Dick Cheney was the true power behind the scenes. The other thing I'll mention is that while Obama hasn't dazzled us as president, he hasn't done anything to warrent the vile attacks against him. Remember, he inherited most of the problems and he hasn't been in office even a year yet. Also, I don't like the comparisons of him to Hitler. Those are totally unfair becuase he hasn't exterminated 6,000,000+ people just because they are different. Ghaleon |

I don't have a settled opinion. American politics interest me but I don't know or understand them as an American citizen would do. I am no fan of George W Bush but I think it's just too soon to tip him the Black Spot. History, even a few decades of seperation, makes it easier to judge: right now he is widely detested and that is an emotion which distorts judgement. For example I detest Margaret Thatcher, always have and always shall, but in her premiership she restored the authority of the British state at home and abroad at a moment when I for one remember fearing that we had as a country become spineless and decadent beyond hope of recall. Nice people seldom make effective leaders.
Just a thought: what about Warren Harding (president 1920-23, when he died in office and was succeeded by almost as dud Calvin Coolidge): incompetent, corrupt, dogged by sordid sex scandals? Worst of all, Harding led America backwards into isolationism, which he characterised as a ''Return to normalcy'' [sic]. This meant that America took no interest and wielded no influence in Europe during the era of the rise of Fascism, never joined the League of Nations even though his predecessor, Woodrow Wilson pretty much created it, did nothing to help or support Britain or France in their admittedly limp and feeble attempts to assert democratic principles in Europe and confront Nazi aggression, and honestly thought that America had no interest at stake in European affairs. Huge huge mistake. It would have been much better for the American people if Warren Harding had never been President.
