Attention: There is a prevalent email scam happening everywhere where the sender claims to have a password to a site and demands money in some form. Ignore it, do not respond and at most change passwords on any sites you frequent.

Effective immediately, moving or animated GIFs are not allowed in signatures. If your signature has one, please remove or replace it asap. Staff will remove them as and when we see them without notice.

Sincerest apologies to everyone for the recent blackout. VEF and several of our sister forums had a major server malfunction. The database index is being rebuilt from scratch and may take at least several days to be fully restored. Expect major weirdness and lots of glitches in the meantime. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Unfortunately it seems that all of the posts made from the 13th March until the crash are permanently lost, please feel free to re-post any such material, apologies for this.

And they won't install anything (nasty or not) if you click the "browse" button. Many sites you visit every day are dangerous even if you don't notice. Why? Because most of them have got ads that belong to 3rd party sites, those ads usually have got scripts that could sneak into your computer and you won't even notice it. Most of the times this does not happen, as you've probably got a firewall or antivirus or any other kind of software like that. Still do not rely on any security software even if you're paying for it; they won't protect you against yourself. In a few words: basic knowledge is the best tool; don't do what you shouldn't do, and you'll be fine.
