If you have been watching ' Gentleman Jack ', the BBC series about a lesbian in the 1800s, in episode 2 we see Suranne with her head between the thighs of a very nude buxom blonde French woman , yet Suranne is covered by a white sheet and even her plentiful breasts are hidden from our view. FFS the woman she is licking is completely naked with her legs apart yet Suranne is still keeping her modesty. Episode 4 we get a glimpse of Suranne in a tin bath and apart from the rear view that we at least realise she isn't wearing a bra, the front view camera shots are all just above boob level, so even her cleavage is hidden. I am sure she was up for any lesbian sex scenes provided it was written in her contract that her tits, arse, and fanny were not on show. I am still waiting in fervour for her costar to show us at least a few inches of skin.

I don't see the big deal. I mean, it's a shame I won't get to see some specific actresses naked, but there are a lot of attractive women we don't get to see naked. It's their choice, some women just don't feel that way about their bodies.

Best just to be grateful when it happens.

It really can ruin the viewing experience though, completely killing any suspension of disbelief.

The issue really isn't with the actress, but with the director or producer who hired them. If nudity is essential to a scene, they should hire an actress that's willing to disrobe. If they hire an actress who refuses, especially if they have made it known they are unwilling to perform in the nude, then they should perhaps rework the scene so that nudity is not required.

My wife (ex-wife now) laughed her ass off, and didnt wear a bra for a month.

Reality in movies is imaginary, lol. First thing used to happen as my wife walked in the door was the bra came off. Next came the pantyhose and shoes. The idea that there would be any clothes unless it was footy socks on her (always had cold feet) there wasn't a stitch to be seen.

Want to see a REAL sex scene in a movie where she hops up to run out and pee 4 times in the middle of things.

And movie sex must be the most boring of sex. Barely any movement, 3 positions, 30 seconds long. Pdfft.

I've voiced several simple complaints about individual actresses in this thread, but I think it's time I presented my manifesto. To wit:

There shouldn't be a job description in Hollywood known as 'body double.' These actresses should be able to audition for any role that the big names are up for, and get them if they show the ability to play the role. Being relegated to the role of nude stand-in for the big name actress is an insult to both their appearance, and their talent.

All actresses should be willing to do any nudity called for by any and every role they audition for. If they're unwilling to do the nudity, they shouldn't audition for that role. Additionally, there should be no pass for any actress who decides after being cast that she is suddenly uncomfortable with the nudity involved. If she refuses to do the nudity, she should be fired immediately and replaced by an actress that will do it.

The nudity is part of the role, and part of the performance of it. Any actress that thinks nudity is 'beneath' her should be banned from auditioning for roles that require it, especially if such a role is a career-maker. If they aren't willing to do the necessary work, they should stick to network TV, and find their career-maker role there.

As an example of how bad it can be, I present the following:

Kirsten Dunst refused to do the nudity in her role in the film "Crazy Beautiful", going so far as to sweet-talk the director into letting her do the scene in question in her underwear, while expecting the rest of the cast to respond to her as though she's completely nude. It was a pivotal moment in her character arc that, without the nudity, makes no sense, and it ruined the film. I don't know how true it is, but there is or was a story out there that she felt bad enough about damaging the film's box office and reputation that she willingly did the nudity in "Melancholia" as an apology of sorts.

I just vote with my feet. I'll watch anything with an actress that has done loads of nudity, even if I know she isn't nude in that film. So anything with Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, Nicole Kidman et al gets watched - films, TV, you name it. On the other hand, if I see something advertised featuring an actress that doesn't get her kit off, eg Jennifer Aniston or Renee Zellweger I won't go to see it.

If our tastes aren't being catered for in one place we should withhold our money and spend it where they are.
