This signed paper of today is nothing but a declaration of intent; no timelines, no specifications - there have been similar ones in the past.

Given the youngest developments just some days/months back (G7, Iran) proves that all agreements and contracts which Donald did sign are not worth the paper (or the ink in his personal black marker) it is written on.

This volatile man can not be trusted, in no regards.

I meanwhile do sympathize with the thought that the "Mad Rocket-Man" would at least deserve the Peace Nobel Prize too

Nah, seriously...what has been achieved right now is just minor. Only the next months/years will tell whether this summit can be considered "historic" one day. It hopefully does.

South Korea probably knows North Korea better than anyone in the world and are probably more skeptical of their intentions than anyone else in the world. They are all for this happening. It got nothing but steadily worse under Obama and the Liberals and the press were happy with his actions. It should make anyone wonder about their intentions.Same thing with the economy,Middle East, health care and just about everything they say they were trying to fix.

But are you clever enough to live with unfriendly people or as you have posted several times before would you, as the unelected leader/spokesperson of Freedonia (the land of the brave and free) just eject those who disagree with you as you would class them as troublemakers? Fancy people wanting to think for themselves

Why do Communist think that when they put it in place everyone becomes so worried about their fellow man when it has never happened that way in the whole history of it,exactly the opposite.

So, like I said, the document is mumbo-jumbo.

All that will happen is that Chubby Kim will put his nuke program on the back burner for awhile and then start it up again later when he gets the itch to make his neighbors uncomfortable once more.

I suspect the only reason Kim agreed to the summit in the first place is because he wanted to sniff Trump over in person, and figure out if he was the sort of nutter who would really launch a surprise attack on NK if Kim pushed him too far.

The problem with this "agreement" is that NK has already figured out how to build nukes and the missiles to put them on. Kim may truly agree to get rid of his nukes/missiles. But, should things change somewhere down the line, since they already know how, they'll be able to reassemble an arsenal in fairly short order.

Ultimately, the only way to stop NK from having nukes will be to invade them...something that nobody wants to do. Our only other hope is that the people of NK spontaneously rise up en masse, and throw the lot of them into the Sea of Japan...something that's not likely to happen anytime soon.

I'm not so sure their nuclear program went that well (remember that collapsing mountain some time ago).

But either way, NK should be realistic enough to know that their nuclear ambitions won't cut it (even if they succeed to make nukes, they know the USA has a +50 year advantage on them) , so negotiating about stopping this program is in their best interest.

And as much as i'd like to see a revolution there, like you said, i also don't see it happening, i think the average Kim is so intensely brainwashed that they'd never dare to rise up against their divine leader.

Last I heard, the consensus is that they do have some nukes. Whatever the number or throw weight is. But I believe they have learned how to build something in the way of a nuclear warhead. The only real question is their missiles. Have they learned to build a warhead small enough to put on a missile, and get it somewhere else? We simply don't know. Of course the US can pound them into oblivion, but at what price? We have to assume, since nobody but NK knows for certain, just what their nuke capabilities are, that they have enough to take out several major US cities...which is a price nobody in the US would be willing to pay. It's the same advantage all dictatorships have. They can take tons of casualties without having to worry about what public opinion says.
