Yeah, again I don't get that. If you think your crotch is private then why wouldn't you think your breasts should be private as well?

I seem to remember Suzanne Somers showed it all when she tested for Pl@boy before she became a star. Years later she went back and did an "official" nude spread but I thought her earlier one was much better.

I do think vagina shots cross the line from classy/artsy to porn, it's a taboo in society . Celebs ofcourse don't want to be associated with pornography, that is "dirty", whereas posing for Playboy might even improve their public image, because it's some kind of common courtesy or test of courage (in the case of PB), and they have shown confidence as women. Sure, it's hypocritical, but so are many things these days.

The OP has a point, and the same goes for basically any porn site. It sucks to download huge files where there's only a few pics that are kept and the rest is deleted.
Then again, I don't think the best photographers work in the porn business, and those who do possibly don't care as much for the viewer as they care for the paycheck.

Yes I am sure that is their reasoning. Crotch shots equals something dirty or pornographic. I don't think anyone expects them to pose spread eagle.

However showing their bush can be as artfully tasteful as the rest of their body, evidence by 60 plus years of Pl@ymate photo-shoots.

Yes, and at least to Valerie Perrine's credit she had the gumption to show us her lovely knockers in full view in P-boy and in her movies, unlike all the hoopla P-boy made at the time when Raquel Welsh was to appear in their pages, only to have everyone who ran down to their local magazine stand to pick up that edition be totally disappointed when they opened it up to find Raquel there wearing a bikini bottom with arms crossed giving us a big fat zero and revealing nothing!
Raquel actually occasionally revealed more of herself in her movies, which was not all that much, than what P-boy gave us!

True, but those weren't celebs were they? Celebs often consider themselves better humans, and probably most of them do these PB shoots as some kind of extravaganza to talk about at their cocktail parties, it's some kind of cool publicity stunt for them.
I really do think it's some kind of collective subconsciousness taboo. "Humans come out of there it's a dimension gate!!"

Exactly. Whether a celeb be retired, semi-retired, or quit the business altogether, they may do a nude photo shoot possibly to replenish diminished funds, or perhaps for other ulterior motives and reasons, such as to promote a new or upcoming album or movie release.

For example, when Nancy Sinatra appeared in the May 1995 issue of P-boy, where she revealed both tits and bush, she was 54 years old, and it was to promote her new album "One More Time", as well as for a tidy undisclosed sum of cash.

Even some of those celebs who do hold some sort of taboos or high moral standards about exposing themselves will often succumb if the price is right or for some beneficial ulterior motive -- but then again there are some who will not relent under any circumstances.

I don't believe that celebs hold or possess any special taboos or higher morality standards when it comes to nudity any differently than any other nude model, but I do believe that due to their celebrity status they definitely and most-assuredly know that they can usually fetch a good price -- and often the longer they hold out the better the offer, reward, and payback!
It could also depend upon how badly they need the cash, or how badly they wish to boost some album, movie, or new product they are trying to promote.
There's an old saying, "Money talks, and bullshit walks!"

Interesting discussion.

Treats magazine is a pub that has surprised me. They have had some good models appear. I mean, working models. For example, Amy Hixson. She had been a Victoria Secret model, though I think not at the time she was in Treats. But from what I can understand/remember, she was continuing to work globally in fashion and was still repped by a major agency when she did a shoot with Treats. The shoot is artistic, and I think the technical quality of the photography is certainly high, but given that it's Amy Hixson, the content and the source really surprised me.

I was also surprised to see Leslie Bibb had done a shoot, nude. But it was with Demarchelier, and for Allure. And they did it B&W from what I can remember. I don't ever remember seeing a color shot from the shoot.

Carol Alt was pretty disappointing, although Joan Collins may have been the nadir of their celebrity pictorials (I have never seen Belinda Carlisle's or Nancy Sinatra's, and have no intent to search for the pictures).

Teri Polo was probably the best I can recall, full color, nipples that could poke your eye out and a nicely trimmed landing strip. Farrah still looked good by the time of her eventual nude layout but it was too artsy-fartsy and done in ochre tones or b&w. B&W<>art, b&w=pretentious.

Even before I saw the Vida Guerra pictures in Playboy I knew they'd disappoint. Not that they're aren't a couple of good pictures in there, but Playboy always manages to bring the hottness down a notch. Vida has better pictures of herself taken with a cell phone than what she did for Playboy.
