With the World Cup due to start on the 14 June, just over three weeks away and England expected to lift the trophy on 15 July, I was wondering how often do you Gentlemen require the fixtures posted?

I have had something of a brain wave on the KO stages, example below.

England v Germany.

footstep predicts 2-2 and Germany progress on pens.
VM predicts 1-1 and England progress on pens.

Under normal rules points would be 3-1, but as footstep predicted the Germans on pens he gets a bonus point so 4-1.

Basically if you predicted the penalty shoot out winner 1 extra point.

Thoughts gentlemen.

Don't understand it

Wouldn't 'nominated' groups and results for certain matches in their groups ...be easier ?

It'll come thick and fast, mid-week closures etc, so you can't be expected to keep up with it all.

Nor us

You could try a "FINAL Group" prediction ... Points for correct placing etc
4 Pts Top~ 1 pt Bottom etc... that would give you time to assimilate and post, before the fast knockouts

If you want help Vic...I'll volunteer.

I could do a Group Tables assessment ... and leave you free to organise the knock-out stages... and then add-in the Group Scores later.

If you want...my offer is there

I have plenty of time these days as work is no longer in the way, with Excel and Word making life even easier.

Apart from the normal predictions points, we just need to decide on any additional point gathering idea's.

Thanks for the help offer, if I get stuck I'll be heading in your direction.

World Cup Fever.

Thus far predictions for World Cup as follows.

Usual rules 3 & 1

New Goodies.
Pick Group Winners. (1)
Final group placings (2)
Top Scorer (3)
Penalty Shoot Out Winner (4)

Best team of first round, discuss how we will arrive at this decision.

1) prior to 14/6 pick the 8 group winners. 3 points correct pick, 0 anything else

(2)Prior to 14/6 final group placings of all 8 groups 1=4 points, 2=3, 3=2, 4=1.

(3) Prior to 14/6 pick top goal scorer. 10 points

(4) KO rounds apart from result, pick a penalty shoot out winner, 2 points for correct winner.

footstep has suggested best team of the first round, opinins on how this will be decided and points for the pick.

Confused, just watch the next edition of soap.

I'd think 'best team 1st Round'
~ would involve scrutiny of the tables if we're going on 'facts' amongst those winners. GS / GC / GD / etc

~ or.... a 'breakout' team that exceeds FIFA ranking. Difficult.

Just give it France and be done with
