I feel like I'm a bit late to the party, but here's my submission.
Lead Vocals - Peter Gabriel Backing Vocals - Norah Jones Lead guitar - Jeff Beck Rhythm Guitar - Stone Gossard, Steve Howe Bass Guitar - John Paul Jones Drums - Neil Peart Producer - William Orbit I suppose the key is to find musicians that can not only put their egos to the side and collaborate, but that can also compliment each other.

A Supergroup needs multiple lead guitarists.
Preferably hundreds Playing simultaneously. All called Angus Young AC/DC - who made who http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbCyfrWgLiQ

Hmm! All supergroups tend to founder on the fact that there are too many egos and (as someone else mentioned) individual styles all mashing together.
What made the Beatles so effective was that there were no dazzling virtuoso players - just four guys who'd grown up together and thus knew intuitively how to create and craft a song together - no matter who had written it. They had a work ethic and a co-operative vibe. So I have thought up a group of hardened but lesser-known pros who have played brilliantly over time without having their egos inflated beyond reasonable bounds. Gary Brooker (Procol Harum) - vocals and keys Mick Rogers (Earthband) - guitar and vocals Dave Gregory (XTC) - guitars, keys. Rick Kemp (Steeleye Span) - bass and vocals Dave Mattacks (Fairports/Tull/McCartney/everyone) - drums I really do think this would be a band worth watching. |
