It probably missed out the word Basildon(Bond) on the watermark
Not an anorak old boy just a good recall of things Bond and a head for trivia-perfect for forums like this. In fact I ran a cartoon thread on Friends Reunited for a few years to answer questions that members had on their favourite cartoon shows-was very successful. I was actually considering setting up a FBook page for all things Bond but I think some already exist, so you're stuck with me for now Incidentally keep an eye out on the BBC, as they are releasing loads of rare footage and interviews this year from their massive archives-interview with Guy Hamilton and Ian Fleming for two.

Dont you notice a kind of pattern emerging ?
like say in the George Lazenby movie ... On her Majesty's Secret Service... Bond is in London to get his new instructions from M , he has a bit of banter with Miss Moneypenny, we get a few shots of Imperial London... then the story shifts to the Mediterranean... to beaches, to casinos... to glamorous women......... Kind of the same pattern in The Saint.... the suave English agent, Simon Templar, but then all the action is down on the Cote D'azur The Persuaders TV series ditto ( probably the same team making it all ! ) In other words the Bond movies are made in Britain, with a British writer, British star etc, but they cant wait to hi tail it down to the Med.... France, Italy and all points south. |

This is sometimes known as a gambit-Terry Nation, creator of the Daleks and Doctor Who was drafted in to US tv and did this for a number of tv series. In the case of the Bond films, the pattern has always been, an opening title sequence, then the credits and then the opening scenes in London to prove he is British (as you said)-same also could be said for The Saint(Roger Moore). In his case it was always made in England and like the Champions as well was shot mainly here-never making it past Elstree Studios(the Champions' Nemesis headquarters in Geneva was in reality an old Ever Ready battery building in North London and the famous Geneva spout superimposed in the background) Bond is bigger budget stuff so sticks to a set pattern...after all it's what makes him uniquely British(except Lazenby of course who was Australian)

Yes correct he was, but he played a British secret agent (or rather intelligence officer as agents were the minions and didn't go into the field) so I was using the British description in a generic term.
Speaking of James Bond I learnt that Janet Brown died today, she of course has a link with Bond, she played Lady Thatcher to John Wells's Dennis in "For Your Eyes Only," she died in a nursing home at the age of 87.
