Does anyone know anything about the guy who was accidentally shot by police during the recent London Bridge attack?

It was reported that he was not badly injured, but it's also been said that he was hit in the head by a bullet and anyone hit anywhere in the head by a round from an assault rifle is going to be astonishingly lucky to survive.

What is the story here and has a D-Notice been issued to the press, as this could be very negative stuff for the police.

I'm not criticizing the police. We need them and they did a brilliant job. Sometimes shit happens by accident, but I also don't like this kind of secrecy just because it's bad PR.

Near my place of work today I heard a guy who often does deliveries there say (these were his actual words) 'he should've driven that fuckin van straight into that fuckin Mosque and killed loads of em!' and another bloke was listening agreeing with him.
Then something about the guy was going to prison for the rest of his life so he might as well kill as many as possible.

What should I have done or do?
Confront him? Have a 'discussion' about it?
Report him to the police?

Or ignore it and do nothing? - Rightly or wrongly that's what I did

Brussels Central Station has been evacuated after an explosion, with Belgian police saying the situation is under control.

A person wearing an explosive belt was "neutralised" inside the station, reports say.

The city's main square, the Grand Place, was also evacuated.

It's a bit weird (and fortunate, i suppose) that this happens at 9 PM and not at 5 when it's super crowded. Did the terrorist miss his train?

Latest news here speaks of 2 explosions (the 2nd being a smaller one), the first being a trolley being blown up (luckily not harming other people closeby), and the guy - apparantly having wires sticking out of his clothes - being shot by patrolling soldiers.

A witness reports that the guy yelled Allah Akbar before the first explosion.

But who knows maybe he was just looking for Ali's Snackbar

Sorry but here you are totally wrong.
For a start most mentally ill people do not want to kill themselves let alone others.
Further to say that people who wish to kill for a believe or whatever reason are mentally ill is an insult to those who are genuinely mentally ill.

IMHO.

Perhaps the majority of mentally ill people don't want to kill themselves, but there is certainly a percentage willing to do so and in some cases harm others.

I once lived with someone who was bi-polar and she came very close to killing herself on two occasions.

Then there are three young people who lived nearby to my present home - in one case across the street. All three hanged themselves within the last couple of years, apparently due to mental illness. If you look up cluster suicides, this is not that uncommon it would seem.

Many people just can't deal with life, like my well healed cousin in South Africa who lost his prestigious job and decided to go off to a motel one morning and blow his brains out.

Tamsmith, some people simply can't cope with the world or see things very differently from most of us. People become very confused or fragile under some circumstances and almost anything can happen.

If you type in "schizophrenic killer," on Google, you'll find pages of entries that link extreme mental illness to very dangerous people.

A man has been Tasered by police after reports people were being attacked at a London mosque just before 01:30 BST.

Officers said they acted after finding a man waving an "item" around near the London Central Mosque in Regent's Park.

There were no reports of any injuries and the suspect is being held at a central London police station on suspicion of affray.

The force said it was not treating the incident as terrorism-related and said the item being waved was a shoehorn.

"Officers are keeping an open mind regarding any motivation for the incident", the force said in a statement.

Small update on the Brussels Central Station bomb from last night:

Things could've been a lot worse, since the first bomb was in fact a nailbomb and didn't explode as planned (it looked more like a torch, as you can see)

He did carry a heavier bomb with him but that one didn't go off.
