I won't deny that the total lack of a family resemblance between MJ and his children struck me very forcefully. I am not going so far as to say that I know for a fact that they are not his biological children but I will honestly br really surprised if it turns out that any of them really are.
But he was a father to them when, most likely, someone else who should have been a father to them was disappearing in a cloud of dust. Weird and less than wonderful though he was, he seems to have loved them and they seem to have loved him. If that was the real deal, hey, fair enough: That's one aspect of MJ I wouldn't reproach him for. I'm sorry for them now.

Hands up who`s seen this week`s cover of OK magazine ?
As you know Scoundrel i do love you , in a manly way of course. But let`s ignore the promoted propaganda and also not project our own moral integrity onto an individual who paid off more families than we will ever know. Instead let`s really think about it , as in how do we really know what kind of father he was to them ?.Or if his version of love came anywhere close to a rational persons?. I mean we know what sort of a comprehensibly deluded emotionally messed up sexually questionable painkiller addicted self obsessed man he was in public , right ?.
So is there any confidence in believing he always pulled himself together in private ???.Does Mike sound like semi decent father material to you ?. Sure i bet he played with them and such , but then he was immensely childish (As it was called , although i prefer to use the correct term of self indulgent) himself . But a father to them ?, a real father ?. Did he lead by example , did he offer parental guidance ? . Or did any of his flunkies maybe offer guidance in his stead ? I doubt it , oh and notice how i`m deliberately avoiding mentioning just what material was discovered by the police when they raided then search his ranch (Mind you if anybody is interested try google and some patience ). Or that his fanatical need to modify his own appearance to that of a different race might led one to feel he was psychologically unstable to care for hamsters let alone children ! Don`t get me wrong i`m immensely sorry for those children , none more so than the little girl. Who was pushed forward by adults that should know better , pushed forward and made to be a spokesperson and denier for her "Father" on the day of his funeral . A sicker spectacle i`ve yet to see, and reason enough for any sane judge to re-think ever giving a single member of the Jackson clan guardianship over those children

I was really disturbed by the way the little girl as you say GS was pushed up there to reveal all her feelings to the cameras. I really found the whole event to be a bunch of self-promoting and very voyeristic garbage.
Yet people around the world lapped it up, 'oh wasn't little Paris's speech moving awww' It was a MINOR, thrown in front of the cameras possibly against her natural instinct to reveal her innermost turmoil to BILLIONS of people who effing well aught to know better. Virtual child abuse. |

Saint MJ
The memorial service was on my telly for at least and hour but, except when Brooke Shields spoke (obviously I'm going to pay a bit of attention when Brooke Shields in on the telly, even though she is no longer a teenager) the whole was just vague noise.
I actually saw Paris (is that really her name BigBucket, couldn't MJ do any better than that?) on the news. She is distraught, that's plain enough. Its a rotten break for a 10 year old kid. Should she have been allowed to speak: not sure. In a private service, yes of course, but in that media three ring circus, even if she really wanted to speak and wasn't being ''expected'' to speak, its a lot to subject a 10 year old girl with no experience of the limelight. As regards to my being too generous to MJ, Greenskull, you might well be right about him being a piss poor ''father figure'' [in fact I'm pretty sure of it] and thats before we ask ourselves whether or not he was actually compos mentis. I only observe that the kids are unhappy: like dogs and cats, young children are honest about their emotions and aren't yet ''diplomats''. That means they liked him. That's the limit of what I have to say: I'm not putting him forward for Canonisation, and I doubt if Pope Benedict will either. Its nice to be loved, in a manly kind of way, even by someone with one of the most formidable avatars on VEF. As you can see, I'm a pussycat myself...

Put it to bed already
It's certainly not just you guys. It's been nearly two weeks of MJ related television (thanks for this forum).
The other night I couldn't sleep, turned on the t.v. and 3 channels of MJ (I can literally hear him now in the background.!!!...), and a test pattern on the fourth. I don't remember all this attention going out to Frank Zappa. Sure he may not have sold anywhere near as many units, but sixty albums ...c'mon. Edit: The title of this post is directed at the mass media, not the forum who ironically are all that may ever see it. Sorry GS Last edited by blondifan; July 10th, 2009 at 01:45 AM.. |

I was no great fan of MJ, actually not a fan at all, just not my cup of tea. But in all fairness, I'm a musician, and he was a very professional performer, and very talented. And yeah, he was screwy and probably a perv. (Like many talented personalities, from Mozart, to Oscar Levant, Marlon Brando, Liberace, Howard Hughes, Brian Wilson, etc., ad infinitum..) But I tend to think his kids did love him. That little girl is no actress, that outburst of emotion came from the heart. Regardless of what we surmise, I'm content to think she loved her daddy, and he loved her. And that's all I have to say about that.

Not seeking to extend this route of conversation but did you mean to make that sound as if you were calling Mozart, Oscar Levant, Marlon Brando, Liberace, Howard Hughes and Brian Wilson perv`s ?. Because i`m pretty sure that none of them were any such thing , in fact i`m almost certain.
Anyway let`s all drop the Jackson stuff , but first a minutes respectful silence. Blast couldn`t resist the urge to grab my crotch and go " Oooooooooooooow , yeeeee heeee" His memory lives on

Just to add my 2 cents. Effin Maria Carey at the funeral/memorial/circus was pretty damned annoying, and what is it with wearing sunglasses indoors..it looked more like a Mafia send off
