I got Zeppelin too, but I know I'm more Stones, as in I don't know when to quit and just keep going.

Fleetwood Mac
Oh Well !!! I normally listen to heavier stuff but I love some of Peter Green's classic earlier bluesy stuff and I have played my Tusk CD's to death over the years. I can live with that. |

The Beatles. Which makes sense when you consider what forum this is.

Led Zeppelin. Cool. I probably listen to them the third most among Classic Rock bands after The Stones and The Guess Who.

The Eagles.
Thats interesting. They were my third choice prior to taking the test. Yes and ELP are my favorites followed closely by the Eagles. Love their guitar work and have probably seen them a dozen times over the years. |

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were in a group together and I believe it was but will not swear to it The Yardbirds. Page & Plant had other ideas of how they wanted to make music. They were talking to Kieth Moon the drummer for The Who, actually they were trying to recruit him. When Moon realized they were trying to recruit him he gave his opinion of their idea to form their own band and told them "It would go over like a Lead Zeppelin (lead balloon)". In other words it would never fly. Page & Plant eventually found their drummer in none other than John Henry Bonham and started the band and named it Led Zeppelin. So we can actually thank Kieth Moon for their name!

I also got Zeppelin but honestly I think answering LOTR for favorite book will clench it seeing as how half their songs were about it. The rest of the answers may even be irrelevant.

The New Yardbirds
Hello, I believe the band was originally going by the moniker The New Yardbirds. Page was proud of his work with the Yardbirds, & worked out many of the musical idea's that made there way into the first Zep album. That album was actually recorded, with Bonham on drums, & the band signed to Atlantic records as The New Yardbirds. But as the first gig after the albums recording approached, the band recieved a cease & desist order from Chris Dreja's attorney. He played bass & rhythm guitar in the original Yardbirds lineup, & I believe, owned some rights to the name. So the band began swapping idea's for a new name. Page recalled a joke Keith Moon had made in '67, when Page had tried to form a 'supergroup' consisting of himself, Jeff Beck, Moonie & fellow Who member John 'Thunderfingers' Entwistle on bass. Moon said "That'll go down like a lead zepplin!" Page changed the spelling from lead to led for artistic license, & voila'... the rest is history!
