Presumerably from the sale of whatever it is the robots are producing. Not much point to having them if they are not contributing somehow to the benefit of the human race,.

Here are two perspectives, but there could be more... for sure.

In a near future, robots will make more jobs, but some jobs will still need humans hands.

What about the concept to collaborate at least 1 or 2 monthes per year to contribute to the jobs that still need human hands. That would be the only way to receive your income.

Or if our societies would agree to be more tolerant:

1) If you want to do nothing = survival income.
2) If you collaborate to the society = better income than the survival one.
3) If you want to work more than step 2 = better income than the income 2.

For sure, we can improve the model. That's a quick idea "thrown on the table".

There is one fact that people don't like to speak, but that's terribly important.
WE DIDN'T CHOOSE TO COME ON EARTH. That's our parents that choose this fact for us.
So why do we have to work for a society in which we didn't really decide to participate? Look at our society, we produce tons of things that are useless and finish to the trash... only to eat our food and live in a safe area.

In 2018, let's make most of the painful jobs to the robots and sit at home 300 days per year drinking a beer with your friends... if you really want. But work at least 65 days to contribute to the proper functioning of our society.
But I can tell you, 98% of the people don't like to sit at home during all their life.
Humans are not genetically programmed to be lazy.
