After I left school at 16 I joined the Army and was posted to Bovingdon for my training back in September 1977.
There was a newsagent next to the Services Kinema Corporation SKC or to the public the cinema. As an aside despite us being in the Army the camp comander banned The Omen from being show at the time

However as most of us were buying mags there wasn't really a big deal buying them even though there were always female staff there. The only problem was it was back in the days of not very hardore-Playbirds, Lovebirds Whitehouse etc which didn't really come up to the standard of the Dutch German Scandanivian stuff that used to do the rounds from time to time.

I used to love it. I'd make it into a big deal, building up the anticipation. I found if I went further afield, it felt more exciting. Like many of you, it was best if it was a woman behind the counter. The memories!!! I've been following this thread with interest as it is very close to my heart. The reason for that will become apparent as you read my contribution.
In my late teens I discovered porn with a vengeance and was like a kid with a new toy. I had looked at mags borrowed from school and work mates before but never bought my own. I actually passed my driving test before I bought my first porn mag!!! How sad is that?!!Eventually I decided it was time to do the deed and, paranoid about being seen by someone I knew, I went to a newsagent some distance from where I lived. I remember my first purchase well -I was aged 15- Sept 1971-I had seen the shop in a back street on a number of previous occasions and it actually had a display on the door of girly mags. I did some shopping in town plucking up courage to go in and returned an hour later to find the shop closed with a notice saying the owner would be back in 20 mins. By then I had built my self up to buy a magazine so I walked round the block a couple of times until the newsagent returned.

Not having bought before I noticed the titles of a couple of mags Playboy and Girl Illustrated. I went in an wasn't sure if the newsagent would ask my age but she didn't. I asked for the two titles i could remember and thought she would get them of the shelf for me but she actually went to the door and asked me to point them out before smiling at me and putting them in the brown paper bag.

Used up my pocket money buying both and managed to get them home- fortunately my parents were out for the day so I didn't have any problem smuggling them in but typical teenager I hadn't thought where to stash them. Hid them in my wardrobe until I found what I thought was safe place where they wouldn't be found (needless to say they were but that is a different story!).

Not sure that first purchase was a turn on but spent hours wanking when I got home.
