The new tax plan eliminates the $7500 tax credit on electric or hybrid car purchases. The campaign to keep encouraging fossil fuel use and big oil dominant is going full swing. I suspect that US auto makers will repeat history and continue with their muscle car revival, ignoring economy and practicality, like they did in the 70's, until they get caught flat footed again with a major loss in market share and have to play catch up with Asian and European car makers for another decade after that.

I'll make sure Alex Jones is notified of your intentions so he can include your name with Mueller's in his diatribes to the uneducated, er, I mean his listening audience, of people conspiring against America, secretly working to make themselves the king of the US.
Since it may take a while, you may want to let the next inhabitant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. know that they should keep all of Trump's new taxpayer payed for gold decorations....you do like gold, don't you your majesty? |

BTW, I checked Bernie Sanders Senate page again today. He still lists himself as an Independent. Mr. Sanders is not and has never been a member of the Democratic Party during his entire time in the House or Senate. Therefore, his attempts to garner the party's nomination in 2016 was a blatant attempt by an outsider to hijack the party, just as Trump did to the Republicans. Politicians are regarded with suspicion in our country. However, the parties have every right to reserve their support for those who have spent many hours raising funds and campaigning for other party members, as well as spending countless hours in committees and conventions hashing out the party's agenda. Mr. Trump is vividly illustrating the dangers of allowing a demagogue to hijack a party and compel that party to support policies contrary to the wishes of longtime members and donors. I like many of Bernie Sanders ideas and suggestions, but feel that a truly honest campaign required him to run as an independent or form an alternative party. In many ways his actions reek of a megalomania every bit as large as that of Donald Trump. It is extremely doubtful that Bernie would have proved able to govern the country or secure Congressional support for his programs. In all likelihood Bernie only managed to turn the country over to the tender mercies of Donald Trump and industry lobbyists. |

@Brian249x: Do you think that Bernie Sanders should have tried to run for the nomination of the Green Party, who are considered the "independent left" and attractive to young people? In the days of Ralph Nader (early 2000s), I knew some fellow college students who liked Nader and/or the Green Party... Bernie Sanders also had some youth support, and yet Democrats consider Green Party candidates evil because of Gore's defeat in 2000, which was supposedly single-handedly caused by Ralph Nader. So what is your take on all this?

I really don't have answers to our 2 party gridlock. It is my opinion that we would be better served to move to a government formed by coalitions of multiple parties and characterized by compromise and consensus building. Given that the entrenched interests would lose power, we will likely need to experience total breakdown and possible dissolution before real change happens. Before asking me again for solutions, I suggest reading the line at the bottom of my submissions to get a sense of how widely my ideas are embraced. |
