The Barbie doll, invented in 1959 by Mattel co-founder Ruth Handler, was named for her daughter Barbara. The doll's full name was Barbie Millicent Roberts, from Willows, Wisconsin. Barbie's job was that of teenage fashion model.

The Ken doll, introduced in 1961, was named after Ruth's son Ken. So all these years of the on again off again Ken and Barbie relationship they are actually brother and sister.

Mattel "making toys the whole family can enjoy together!" indeed.

American soldier doll, sorry action figure G.I. Joe was changed by Palitoy in the 1970's to Action Man in this country. It was launched as a sailor and adventurer but later he had all sorts of outfits, mostly military but could also be dressed in the World Cup 1966 kit and later other England squad kits. It could also be anything from a World War II German or British soldier to a fire fighter or helicopter pilot. The Tank Commander Action Man had 'eagle eyes' a device attached the head inside could move the eyes to the side and back and had posable arms, legs and 'gripping' hands so it could hold guns and other accessories. Unlike most boys 'dolls' it had a beard(sailor) and 'realistic' hair. Action Man came with a dazzling array of uniforms, accessories and vehicles. It spawned a board game and a collecting system of 'stars' which could be gathered to get accessories but it took ages to collect them. A small official equipment manual(which I still have) was produced and there were other Action Men produced including a black Commando called Tom Stone. The most popular were the Soldier, Sailor and Adventurer. Action Man and its equipment is big business and mint condition ones can make hundreds of pounds at auction or sales.

Here you can find said pics.

The Bonobo ape's skeleton more closely resembles Australopithecus than it does the chimpanzees. They have a more upright skeleton, long legs and narrow shoulders. They can walk upright for longer periods than other apes and their faces are flatter with a higher forehead. They share 98.5% of our DNA and they more easily adopt human characteristics of language, tool use and even play music. The females in a group use sex to advance their social status and to form alliances and strengthen bonds. Bonobo groups are matriarchal and it is the females who leave to join other groups. Although they are predominantly vegetarian they have been observed hunting for meat.

This video shows a bonobo building a fire and toasting some marshmallows.

Did you know that, despite 'Oblong' being the same shape as 'rectangle', nothing has ever been described as 'oblongular'?

Pfffft, it isn't.

Even if it was, the info I put in my previous post would still have been true as it only includes the time up to the post.

So you're wrong on both counts, so 'Thhrrrrrrrrrpppp!' to you!

Maybe I will go back to an earlier post and change it and then I will be correct as I am always correct

The original OUIJA board was marketed by Parker Brothers as a 'children's game' once but then it was used as a more occult way to supposedly contact the dead!

Hedy Lamarr, the famous actress once billed as "the most beautiful woman in the world", was also an inventor, and during WWII co-created a frequency-hopping technology that prevented radio signals sent to torpedoes from being jammed. Although this technology was not adopted by the military until the 1960s, it led directly to the future invention of Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth.

You can't (accidently) drop the cover through the hole. It won't pass.
