Well here's an 'exclusive'

Maybe Farrell is not so untouchable after all.

So the departures (all three) have been confirmed. Yet no confirmation of any replacements such the current clubs are still bartering etc.

Remember folks, the panto season is upon us.

"Oh, yes he has" says the RFU
"Oh, no he has not" replies Bristol RFC

It would appear that among the coaches being considered are Jim Mallander, Steve Diamond, and Rob Baxter. I can not see any of them leaving there current clubs for a secondary role with England. Rob Baxter is a Devon man, with family business interests, farming, locally. To my mind he is one of the best coaches around, what he has achieved with Exeter speaks volumes.

Mallander and Diamond, I think would not move, they are both too loyal and both would be a huge loss to their clubs.

Well Borthwick's appointment is finally 'legal' inasmuch that Bristol have agreed 'terms' with the RFU.

Yet it seems odd that these appointments are being negotiated with the current clubs, if we are to believe their speel, 'in the dark'.

Maybe I over-simplify the issue. But why can not the assistant coaches work for clubs as well. England only 'come together' at certain times and surely most clubs would be willing to release their coaches then and not at a full time basis.

Thread's gone a little quiet. Maybe posters are saving their fingers for the 6-Nations

Today, however, it is reported that Ashton, just having got back in to the England camp has been banned for 12 weeks which will, if confirmed after the probable appeal, see him miss the entire tournee. You could not make this up. Could you.

Also in the press that Eddie likes lengthy, hard, training sessions. No more canters around Pennyhill then

Could well be an interesting tournament (it always is) with the first couple of games putting down some markers. England face the Scots still smarting from a blind referee (wonder if Joubert gets that one ) and Wales who never seem to do well against the Irish.

The Calcutta cup match is going to be very interesting. I think the Haggis bashers are in with a good chance.

It'll be interesting to see how we (England) do under the new coach. As with every year I expect us to win the tournament

This is looking like the most competitive six nations for years. Scotland are better than most people think, Wales have serious experience allied with youth, and are ready to give the youngsters the chance, imagine getting your first six nations start, with the likes of Alyn Wynn and Warburton beside you! Got to give confidence. Ireland, some serious injury and retirement to the old guard, but now we will see if their development schemes have worked, and to be honest, they are still a force.

France, the old conundrum, which team will show up? Italy, well, they have some great players, but probably not enough to win this year.

England? Panic over? Good men sent to the gallows, strange selections, but the new guru is in charge. Time will tell, but their are certainly names missing from the team sheet that I would have liked to see. Josh Beaumont, explosive for Sale over recent weeks, Ford back to the bench? Well time will tell, but my prediction for this year isd Wales, but probably not a Grand Slam.
