I have never been able to download or even get through to mega.co.nz, and I refuse to get Chrome.
Any suggestions ?

As far as i know, mega.co.nz working with HTML5, so if you don't want use chrome you should use browser that support HTML5, some say and have test that it work with maxthon.

Have you ever tried Chrome?
It's a good browser, simple & you don't have to install all the extra addons & extensions.
