It also bans the advertising or online discussion of such items.
looks like they are trying to keep the gun manufacturers happy...

How? They make some of the receivers that are being banned and the parts used to build a receiver into a gun.

It appears to be an attempt to close the "ghost gun" - the do it yourself method of turning an 80% receiver (a non-gun, often described "paperweight") into a working firearm.

People are turning these into working guns and many are possessed by people who otherwise would not be allowed them.

The people who sell the parts are gun manufacturers. They just don't require any paperwork from the buyers to sell them. No FFLs, no driver license verification, could be cash and carry if the buyer so wished.

That bill looks like it would ban a ton of gun parts period, denying repair parts to legions of legit users.

In the matter of "ghost guns", maybe ATF is going to have to step in and prohibit the sale of receivers so close to completion. That's certainly a loophole.

You ought to require a fairly sophisticated machine shop to complete an "unfinished" receiver. At least if we expect our current laws to keep working as they have been.

You are correct. We can identify a hundred people with mental issues but we cannot isolate the one or two who might go around the bend and do this. That doesn't take into account folks who are flying under the radar and then just snap. The ones whose neighbors "never saw it coming" yada yada.

The guns aren't the problem. We've always had easy access to guns and actually it's has gotten more difficult to get them than in the past. There was a time when you could go down to your local hardware store with cash in hand and walk out with a gun, no questions asked. No background checks.

Why has mental health deteriorated in the US? It clearly has or we wouldn't be facing these incidents. Relying on anecdotal evidence from friends or family and staging pre-dawn raids is not the appropriate response. Because of privacy laws doctors who may suspect an individual can't speak up but we listen to someone with no clinical training and we leave the dirty work up to armed rent-a-cops who very often have no business being in law enforcement in the first place.

I used to be very pro law enforcement. You Tube changed that.

This looks like a good job by law enforcement.

Seems like if you hear that an Asian did a shooting in the US, he is of Korean descent.

“Sieg Heil Taylor Swift" - ?

It is not stated what weapon he had that was prohibited for him to own, but as a permanent resident of the US, he didn't need to check that he was a citizen to buy guns - for those other six charges.

Interesting data - you won't see discussed in the MSM.

I don't believe the 2nd amendment has anything to do with personal gun ownership:

2nd amendment:

"A well regulated militia...."

Also from Adam Ruins Everything: Adam ruins the NRA

Well, unfortunately for your position, the Supreme Court disagrees with it - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distri...mbia_v._Heller

For further information - http://www.constitution.org/2ll/2ndschol/87senrpt.pdf - The Subcommittee on the Constitution of the Committee on the Judiciary - United States Senate - Ninety-Seventh Congress in February of 1982 issued a report which also disagreed with it.

But believe anything you want, just don't be surprised when it doesn't pan out.
