I've never been able to figure this out. If Sean minded being Bond so much, why did he allow himself to be part of a cheap knock off, Never Say Never Again ? Unless it was a chance to get next to the luscious Barbara Carrerra, or Kim Basinger in her prime ?

probably to have a dig at Eon, for making him so famous in the first place... considering Eon had no hand in making that Bond rip off..... still got a soft spot for his japanese co star in NSNA, but rest of the film was rubbish.

Yes Casino Royale was a mess of a film, it was so bad, at least three directors left it but if you have 6 directors & almost as many producers for one film(except perhaps a war film like The Longest Day) you are on a hiding to nothing. To my mind there is nothing in that film to redeem itself and to even mention it in the same breath as James Bond is sacrilege.

i think true bond film fans are getting few and far between greenman. if it aint eon, then for me it aint bond.

i do approve how they brought bond up to date when daniel craig took over though, even pierce finally had to admit they were right to replace him, which i thought was magnanimous of him. kept the waning franchise alive and will hopefully bring new fans into the fold.

if daniel's third outing, which i believe is now back in production, is as good as his first two, then long may bond live.....!!!!

According to a book I have on the history of 007, Connery's wife talked him into it. She said something to the effect of "what do you risk? you're already a star and you are interested."

Connery took the advice and went ahead as it had been so long since he played Bond. I don't think it was a dig at United Artists or anything. "Never Say Never Again" was a remake of "Thunderball."
