Ipod owners
I'm contemplating buying a new Ipod classic and would appreciate any feedback from those of you who have experience with the device. Basically I'm in the market for a large capacity music player with a decent reputation. For some reason when it comes to the Ipod Classic, there really isn't any legit competition from other manufacturers.

Creative Zen mp3 players dont look as good as ipods but they more than match them in sound and features. Theyre easier to put new tracks on than ipods just drag and drop. Theyve got fm radio too. I got a reconditioned one from ebay for about 25 quid, I use as much as an 180 quid ipod.

ive had both & the Ipod classic is good ; the key thing is the huge amount of compatible gear to use with it; Ive got a Panasonic mini hifi with a retractible cradle dock & can play my Ipod with a remote
I also got a DAB radio thingy to use with the Ipod (Roberts radio); it plugs in the bottom & uses ipod power Ive also got a small porn video collection on my Ipod & loads of you tube music videos which i download & convert usin either Firefox download helper or Youtube downloader |

The only thing I can say is if you are half deaf like me you might not enjoy it. Try before you buy. I bought my ipod 6 years ago and the battery was always crap. But i'm sure they have fixed that by now.

Later that afternoon I bought, new at the time, a 16gig Ipod touch. It works OK and all, but for what it's worth, I use the Ipods in the car a lot in the aux input and found the classic easier to use while driving than the touch if that's any help. Never had any other mp3 players so I can't comment.

I love my classic but somehow I ended up with a European version. They have a volume restriction and it makes playback a little tricky. I use it mostly in my car and some songs simply don't play loud enough. I thought it was just older recordings I burned off disks but I noticed the problem with new downloads from Itunes and Rhapsody. I've read about fixes but so far, nothing has worked.

Another vote here for the Creative Zen range. I've owned one since 2004 and I've spent literally thousands of hours listening to it without an issue. Excellent battery life (although it isn't as good as when new), good capacity (20gig), great sound quality, sturdy and easy to use - just plug it into a PC, no software needed, so no bloody iTunes taking over my PC.

If you're looking for capacity nothing beats iPod Classic.
And if you are ok with using iTunes as your music database administrator, then the choice is obvious. It is a bit tricky to order your music in custom ways, but it is possible. |

I highly recommend the IPOD Classic. Ive had my IPOD Classic for 3 years now and have had no problems with it. I have over 100 gig of music stored on it and 50 gig of video. I always use my IPOD as backup because it has never crashed on me.
