For those who don't already know today, September 29 2023, was the last day of operations for Netflix DVD. This was the service that started Netflix, a rent DVD (and later Blu-Ray) discs delivered and returned by mail. It started in 1998 and has shut down after 25 years.

For those of you who were subscribers you can download your rental history from: https://dvd.netflix.com/Download

I thought it might be fun to compare individual statistics from those histories. Here are mine:

1102 total rentals

9 titles in queue

841 total ratings

12 reviews written

Most Active Month: September 2023

Thoughts and comments about experiences with Netflix DVD are welcome too, of course.

My first NetFlix rental DVD was A Better Tomorrow, on 2 Sep 2000.

Total rentals 3,390

Total ratings 10,570 (I rated more than just NetFlix movies/shows seen)

Total reviews 0

Left in queue 5

Having been with the service for 23 years, I ended up in the Top 10 Percent for Rentals and Ratings, with my Top Three Genres being Action/Adventure, TV Shows, and Thrillers.

I never had any real problems with the service, there was only one time when I didn't get delivery of a DVD they shipped, and when I reported it they sent another one.

There were times over the last few years where a disc I had ordered/watched before was no longer available when I ordered it again to re-watch.

Not everyone has the kind of internet connection to make streaming viable.
