Yeah, I've done all of the above at one time or another. Recently had to get rid of a nice mobo because I just couldn't figure out why it was doing what it was doing (erratically). Finally figured it must have gotten too hot and something melted. But couldn't be sure. Spent a lot of time on it and finally gave it to a friend. He couldn't figure it out either.

As far as your is concerned we would need to know what its doing. Most of the time things can be fixed, but not always.

Steve Wozniak himself is quoted as saying, "Never trust a computer you can't throw out the window". So I'd guess its not just you.

Just make sure it's the computer you're giving a shout and/or throw it out of the window. Not the monitor..
