Imagine if VEF had different sections for 'standard' and 'HD' vids where cash posters would simply re-encode every standard vid to make it seem like HD; what a mess that would be....

I am in the process of upscaling a lot of nice videos, starting with the Private Fantasies series. I've been editing for 12 years so no worries I know what I am doing.
Proper upscaling needs at least a solid DVD source and it can't be pushed a lot, I only push it to 1440x1080 (for 4/3 sources) and subtly apply a myriad of effects to sharpen the image because they are all very soft. Don't know if I will be posting my edits here though, tried before and was promptly removed by an admin because I remove too much from the scenes... Cheers |

The same thing is done with audio. Most "DVD-audio" discs are resampled up from mp3s; then sold as "HD". It would be nice if they would communicate the origin of the master and the method of conversion to the media.
