Question WMV editing

Sometimes you just want to cut some good part of a video. Recompressing means more time wasted (more processing power needed) and quality loss (or bloated file size to prevent it).

AVI files (or more precisely: DIVX and XVID codecs) use key frames and delta frames, so you can cut at key frames without re-compressing (I often use virtualdub for this).

Is this possible with WMV?

Windows Movie Maker is the best for simple editing - you can make clips of a video and then drag & drop them onto the timeline. You can also self-edit by clicking on the clip and dragging back or forward to the bit you want to cut. It might take a bit of effort but once you know what you're doing you can produce a decent video complete with transitions and effects.
