As many of you, I remember Gene Wilder from classics like Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Silver streak and the Producers. But I would like to recommend "Haunted Honeymoon" a sort of forgotton movie.
Itīs absolutley brilliant, and there are so many good actors in it.
Gene Wilder of course, but also Gilda Radner, Dom DeLuise, Jonathan Pryce and many more.

If you havenīt seen it , I can really recommend it!

Shamefully, I've only seen Gene Wilder in Blazing Saddles, and only saw that movie once at least 5 years ago. I remember it being really funny though. I do have Young Frankesntein in the queue, so it's only a matter of time until I see more of him. May he rest in peace.

On August 27 a few days ago, Stuart Chapin died from cancer. He didn't do a lot of movies, but I know him from the hilariously bad action movie Shotgun (1989), as he played Ian "Shotgun" Jones. A little funny clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IlM1j6lHhA

This passage from his Caring Bridge Journal was a really interesting read.

Quote:
Stuart Chapin, 56, died on August 27, at home.
He did not pass away, cross Jordan, surrender the ghost,
answer God’s calling, or take eternal rest. He just died. His
idea of heaven was to make his wife and children laugh. As they
are not doing so now, he is not in “a better place”. Anyone who
says otherwise or blusters “everything happens for a reason”
risks a bop on the nose.
Chapin was credited with waging a long, brave battle against
colorectal cancer. What bull. For one thing, cancer is a lover,
not a fighter. It spreads and feeds. When it has fed its full,
it destroys its host and thereby itself, too dumb to live. How
do you fight something that freaking stupid?
And, more to the matter, who says you get a choice? Chapin
wasn’t brave. There’s no courage in losing all your pieces and
then being chased around the chessboard for almost nine years.
Most of the time Chapin stayed up late, mustering few
thoughts more coherent than “Now what?” But he didn’t blanket
himself with despair or engage in false hope. He talked through
the terror, and shared what it was like to meet his end head on,
with honesty and humor.
Chapin is survived by everybody. If you’re part of
everybody, well played. You’re a survivor.
The best thing that ever happened to Chapin was to fall in
love with Vanessa, who loved him back twice as fiercely. Their
children, William (“Liam”), 19, and Katharine, 15, have an
outstanding capacity for joy. Stu has a brother (Bob) and
sister-in-law (Jess) in Los Angeles of whom he was buttons-
popping proud. His relatives (especially Uncle Dick and Aunt
Sandy) are vibrant and warm people who’ve earned their keep on
this planet. Chapin was graced with splendid friends and
students, better than he deserved.
Chapin was a member of the SAFD (Society of American Fight
Directors) and also taught high school English. How and why
these facts interconnected troubled him no end.
In lieu of flowers, do something delightful. Improve the
world by accomplishing the most daunting item on YOUR bucket
list. Do it now. Add your light to the sum of light. Thank
you.
May he also rest in peace.

Tom Jackson the British backpacker in Australia who bravely fought against a knife attacker against a fellow Brit has sadly died .

What steps would you take if you witnessed an atrocity taking place with the perpetrator shouting Ali Akbar ?

Big ones in the opposite direction I guess in most cases but he bravely tried to fight off the attacker .

A posthumous medal perhaps ?

So true I doubt there is a soul on the Planet that knew of Gene and couldn't help but like him and his entertainment.

A few of his films have been mentioned here, one I haven't seen mentioned here, though not his best but my favorite was "Hear no evil, see no evil" with Richard Pryor, loved it, just a good basic story and enjoyable.

RIP Gene.

Gene Wilder was one of the best comedic actor's ever.
He was charming and funny even when he thought he wasnt.
He was the every man in films, that somehow ended up in crazy situations, fortunately
for some of these crazy situations he teamed up with one of the greatest comedians ever Richard Pryor. It was pure gold when they were together.
The Woman in Red is one of my favorites of all time.Wilder portrayed Teddy Pierce
a guy who slowly finds out that sometimes the fantasy of an affair is far better than the
affair itself.
Silver Streak,Young Frankenstein,Blazing Saddles ,The Producers these are just some of his films
that just showed 50% of his gifts,a writer and producer and such a loving husband to the late great Gilda Radner
Just like his partner for four films Pryor there will never be another like him.

There is a great interview with Gene I watched on youtube only a few days ago and at the end where the audience asks questions, one person just thanks him for his gentle voice, which I think summed him perfectly.

Legend.

RiP Gene Wilder.

One of Gene's best roles was the accountant Leo Bloom in The Producers. He seemed to be born to play the nebbish bookkeeper who learns of life from the corrupt Max Biaylstock. However, I recently read that the original choice for Leo Bloom was Dustin Hoffmann. He gave up the part when he got the lead in The Graduate, opposite Mel Brooks' wife, Anne Bancroft.

When Dustin told Mel he was going to California to do The Graduate, Mel said "You mean you're going to Hollywood for the summer to make love to the love of my life? Good choice!"

Rest in peace Gene Wilder. Thank you for all the entertainment you gave to us.
