Rupert is the member who you wish you met in person, I think that says what kind of person he was.

I've missed his posts for the last several years.

It's sad to hear that. He became my first friend at VEF. I remember him as a kind and friendly person.I really hope that he left without suffering. Rest in peace.

Oh my gosh, I just saw this, and am most sorry for him and his family. A man of good humor, great knowledge and accomplishment. Go back and look at his old posts- some people post and you can’t really pick out what sort of person they are, Rupert you could figure out, sort of, if only you knew what was in jest. Turns out from others, less in jest than one might have thought.

His military and diplomatic references were almost LeCarre, but if you haven’t read “The Smelly Bundle Diaries”- you’ve missed something important. Somewhere between Kingsley Amis and Ronald Dahl, incredibly funny, tender underneath it all

Will miss him.

I am sorry to read of the passing of Rupertramjet.
While I don't recall interacting with him much, from reading the previous posts, he was well respected and had a notable life.

My condolences to family and friends.

Always found his posts on the Rugby Union thread informative. Proud that he was capped for his (adopted) country.

So sad. Life is far too short and far too short for some. Had some exchanges with him on the rugby union thread. He loved the sport and seeing it develop. Such a shame he won't be around to see it grow and grow or witness the next World Cup just across the Channel.

Cancer is a you know what but science is getting to grips with it even the more nastier forms. Sadly not in time for Rupe.

As ever thanks to you for all your service to this nation. Shall remember you in November and indeed every day among the countless others.

I am saddened to learn of another V-E-F member's passing.
I do not recall any interaction with him. What content did he appreciate?
It is interesting to learn that he played rugby.

My best wishes to his survivors.
